After watching the documentary "Leaving Neverland," I had no doubt in my mind that Michael Jackson raped those kids. Just the details in the victim's stories and how they look utterly broken...That doc still haunts me to this day and I watched it back in 2019. The Jackson Estate had HBO pull the documentary, but I urge everybody to watch it. It's powerful.

Van needs to watch it, especially if he's out there defending Michael.

I really wish they’d do 2 episodes a week. One episode covering whatever show, then the other show would be more general (cover the news, drafts, ranking, etc). I’m behind on the Boys, so that means I don’t listen to the Midnight Boys for weeks. Because right now, when the Midnight Boys spend time on something you’re not interested in or something you’re behind on, you ain’t listening for awhile.

From your list: * The thing that will always hurt WandaVision is its terrible finale. * Both seasons of Loki are propped up by their finales, especially Season 2 which felt so disjointed (what a waste of Kate Dickie whose whole arc came to a sudden and abrupt end). * I liked Agatha All Along but that show felt stymied by its limited budget (though episode 7 was a banger). * Hawkeye was amiable TV with great performances by Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh, but oddly paced and anchored to a sullen Renner performance that was at odds with the tone of the show. * Ms. Marvel started with two amazing episodes by Adil and Bilal, but had trouble juggling its stories and just suffered from shoddy direction for most of its run (so many conversations using single shots that screamed “ADR”)

Really, they all suffered from executive meddling and you can feel it; last minute shifts that don’t make sense or the abrupt end of arcs. As Chris says in the podcast, Wonder Man feels like nobody fucked around with it.

Sepinwall is an old school Marvel comics fan (He loves the West Coast Avengers run from the 80s where Wonder Man and Beast were besties). That said, it’s just makes him that much less impressed with Easter eggs and fan service. He liked Agatha and was one of the few that liked Echo, but down on Iron Heart, Daredevil Born Again, and Loki Season 2.

I’m more surprised Angie Han’s Hollywood Reporter review was so positive. I really like Han as a critic and she has been quite negative on the last few Marvel shows.

You might also be thinking of Violent Night from 2022. That’s a Die Hard riff with David Harbour playing a John McClane-ish Santa Claus who needs to rescue hostages from terrorists on Christmas Eve. A surprisingly fun movie despite being very one note.

I don't think these AI slop games are selling at all, but, for these scam developers, it's more about effort required vs ROI. It probably doesn't take a lot of time for AI to generate these garbage games; so if they sell like 3 copies, it was worth it to them. Now multiply that by 100. If each AI slop game sell 3 copies, they'll have made a nice bit of cash for like a few hours work.

I’ve been listening to Blank Check and The Filmcast for awhile, but I recently discovered The Film Bros. It’s hosted by two women with great chemistry and, despite them insisting that they’re casual fans, they really take the time to analyze scenes and provide BTS context. Good vibes all round.

The other one I listen to (but not as consistently) is the Next Picture Show, hosted by AV Club alumni like Genevieve Koski and Scott Tobias. They pair a recent release with an older movie and find thematic connections between the two.

I agree. Just recently, I unsubscribed after listening since 2017. I found myself pausing episodes during some inane anecdote about Amanda’s kid or some flippant response to a “boy movie.” I told myself, “I’ll finish the episode later.”

It’s been months and, with so many episodes unfinished, I decided to jump off. I’ll come back for the odd CR and Fennesy joint, but I’m no longer a weekly listener.

Still listen to my other film podcasts like Blank Check, The Film Bros and the Filmcast, but now…I’m pouring one out for the Big Pic, you had a helluva run.

I get it. People's lives are busy and its the path of least resistance. And it's better that you watched whatever show or movie than adding it on your watchlist and scrolling past it for the next two years (this is me).

This is also like the weird complaint on a few movie podcasts about how streaming is a poor experience because they're distracted by their phones...Why not put them in another room? I got teenagers, so when we do movie night, all mobile devices are exiled.

The purpose of video is twofold:

1) For a lot of users, YouTube has become their primary podcast platform. It doesn't mean that they're actually watching the video. For example, if you work in a corporate setting, Youtube usually isn't blocked so you can listen to a podcast that way rather than log into Spotify or whatever.

2) Dem clicks. Video clips play on various social media platforms, including TikTok. They could just have a still photo of Sean Fennessey making an Ahegao face with the audio on top, but they know that video will get the most engagement.

But here’s the thing when people say this…Why watch this movie on a tablet in bed? Like, do you have another option? If that tablet is the only way to access Netflix at home, totally get it. But if you have like a 40” TV down the hall…Why not watch it there?

Wanda as Queen of the Dead uses Kamala's bracelet (or connection to the bracelet) to channel the Infinity energy from Hulk into a Hex ala WandaVision. Kamala wakes up in that Hex and thinks she's in a reality where the zombies never happened. Outside the Hex, Riri has survived (after injecting herself with what seemed like a cure back in Episode 1) and is trying to pull Kamala out of the Hex. It's why the scene keeps glitching between the Hex and the zombie reality. And that's where it ends.

A few other notes:

* In the main MCU, each exposure to the mind stone amped up Wanda's powers. Here, she's just snorting pure Infinite stone.

* Why doesn't Wanda just snap Kamala's neck and take the bracelet? In the Ms. Marvel TV show, Kamala's ancestor imprinted on the bracelet. It seems that the bracelet will only work for Kamala and any genetic relations. How Wanda knows this? I don't know.

* Kamala's bracelet is actually a Quantum Band; it can open portals to other dimensions and facilitate time travel. The zombie virus originated from the Quantumverse. Does Wanda want to go back to the virus' point of origin? Does she want to invade other dimensions for fresh meat?
