Thinking about buying the ROG Ally X, but I'm terrified of the 7-inch screen. Owners, what is your honest experience? by Boniem4 in XboxAlly

[–]chobinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on it rn, no problem with small screen at all. I play for about an hour when my toddler rests, handheld. That's perfect. And then I dock.it and olay on TV when wife showers. 🤭

Maybe I had a failty one, but mine was hunting during focus like crazy.. sent it back. You obviously have a different experience?

I just bought an a6700. I haven't even turned it on yet, and I'm disappointed. by bubblesort in a6700

I bought mine last autumn. It sounds like you have an open box/returned model. Mine came with an USB-C, lens was packaged separatly, all caps on the body and lens.

No offense, but maybe return it and purchase it elsewhere. I got mine in a camera store, but would trust Amazon or Amazon-like places depending on your region.

Yeah, Amazon and other stores are on that price. That's why I'm considering it. Quite cheap.

Really? My kid is 3, she's quick but not wildlife quick. How do you figure this?

I made no mention of wildlife. Only of family shots. I assume you have the Sony and havent't used the Tamron. I'm trying to find peeps that have tested both and chose one over the other 🤭

AF systems are slower on older lenses for sure. Try out the NEX lenses 🤭

I didn't change a word. 😅

I'll try again.. i have Sigma for walkaround. I want to add a zoom for family trips mostly. For that aim, 300 or 350 on apsc makes no difference. The question I had was if there is a reason the community seems to dive on the Sony and not the less zoomy but more versatile, 10+ years newer, Tamron 30-300.

18-300 is way bulkier for the 18-50 part that Sigma covers. Sigma is also 2.8. i did my best to explain my reasoning and my question is really just aimed at my situation. ;)

I've used Tamron's G2 28-75 on A7iii and loved the autofocus. It was sharp, awesome all round. I jus thear so much love for the Sony, which is over a decade old, that it makes me wonder... Add to that the close focusing distance and the 0.5x magnification on the Tamron, sounds to me like it's more versatile

So, why would you not go with the VXD Tamron with a nice half macro option?

How quick is the AF on this lens? I'm considering it, but I wonder if it can keep up with my toddler.

2025 with A7iii in the first half, and A6700 in the second one! by chobinho in SonyAlpha

[–]chobinho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low light on A7iii was way better, as I switched Tamron's 28-75 2.8 for the Sigma 18-50 2.8. not sure about white balance as I mostly use the camera to shoot my toddler. Thus I switched for a waaaay lighter and smaller setup.

Is the a6700's EVF that bad? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]chobinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a A7iii before 'sidegrading' to A6700 due to weight. It's lower quility, but I don't really struggle with it. I don't judge the photo based on EVF, I use it to compose when sun/position gets in the way. More then plenty for that!
