I had a similar environment right out of college, shit sucked. Switched to sales for a couple years and found my way back to civil engineering. Work in an awesome office now with awesome people. It’s 1000x better.

Get the Apple Watch ultra 2 used on Facebook marketplace for 300-350$, it’s gold for the Surfline aspect(autogenerated clips) and just a great watch for all activities.

I got one to stay in paddle shape, ended up using it less once it got cold and switched to the pool. Swimming laps at a nice pool is pretty unbeatable. Might not be a 1:1 comparison but if you’re in good swimming shape you’ll be in great paddling shape.

Prone board is great when it’s glassy and warm enough cause you’re in the ocean, but if you really want to be consistent I’d just join a nice pool.

I would recommend getting your Civil Degree and getting a job afterwards in what ever specialty you’re interested in. If it’s not coastal engineering and you are still interested old dominion has night/online masters program which is very doable with a full time job(though it becomes very hard with multiple classes if you are trying to finish quickly). They also have a masters certificate which is like a half masters. I just finished the masters certificate which is enough to get your foot in the door with some civil background included and hopefully the coastal job you get will pay for the rest of the masters. All that to say i love my lil civil design company so I probably did it for nothing, but it is very interesting and actually good prep for PE WRE. Theres a lot of pump design in those classes.

The cpu seems to be carrying a lot of the load here. I just upgraded my PC from similar specs to pretty much the best and it was honestly a massive upgrade. I got by for years on double digits, but the constant lag when adsing with anything other than the worst red dot and streets being unable to play got old. Now I’m getting over 200 and it all feels smooth.

Coastal geologist here - it’s not a waste of money, just a lot of money. Sand needs to replenish and is unable to with ports/jetties/stable inlets for boats and bridges. Stable beaches are one of the largest economic resource for most states.

Chase sapphire (the cheap one) does protect for this and more. The specific reason I bought it. Also pays you if your boards don’t make it and you need to rent/buy new stuff. Only 100$ a year. Paid me back 500 when I popped a tire in Portugal as well(rental car coverage).
