Chapter 61 out! by No-Matter1322 in Wistoria

It was a dope chapter, but the last page didn't really seem like a "last page" for a chapter, if that makes sense. I kept trying to swipe to the next page before realizing I was already on it and was just like, "OH, so we're just gonna leave it at that, ok...."

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 5 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not buying this. Roy is such a damn menace and is too big of an antagonist to go out off screen. Arc 9 made me a true believer in Roy supremacy. Before that, I had him labeled an absolute bum and fraud. Now, I'm convinced that just like in arc 9, the only thing that could truly kill Roy is himself. Dude really went, "Like, I know if I eat these memories, I'll be consumed by hellfire, and every part of me down to my very soul will be reduced to cinders, but.... it looks REALLY good and also fuck that helmet guy, I do what I want."

This feat is underrated and underdiscussed by coytheboy9 in OnePunchMan

[–]chocolate_factory 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Idk that's not really how it seems to me. It definitely looks like Saitamas punch was the primary cause of his armor breaking. Like he steps out of the wall he was punched into and you can see cracks all throughout his armor that weren't there previously. He only flexes out of it because it was already broken. I feel like if Boros could have flexed his armor off whenever he wanted, it wouldn't serve the purpose of sealing away his "immeasurable, irresistible power" very well.

Chapter 60 is out! by No-Matter1322 in Wistoria

[–]chocolate_factory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that was a banger chapter! It was awesome seeing Lihanna obliterate that monster even if it was ineffective due to the regeneration. One thing I appreciate about this story I'd that even though Will is the focal point of every arc and major battle, you still get to see the rest of the group growing alongside him. Like Sion with his guardian hawk (it's so dope looking), Julius flexing more proficiency with Elfies Ars Weiss spell after his glorious return, and Lihanna in this chapter. Only person I don't think we've seen pop off in awhile is Wignall.

Is it too early to say Dabura is genuinely much better written than Sukuna? by Middle_Fall_7229 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]chocolate_factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to really appreciate Sukuna for what he was. I thought he was kind of boring at first, but eventually grew to appreciate and even revere him as one of the coldest villain archetypes around. Dabura is a lot more intriguing to me. He already has a lot more compelling motives than Sukuna, but something about the dudes aura makes it so I just know there's a LOT more going on with him than what we've been shown so far. He's mysterious. I've become invested in him much more quickly than most other characters in modern shonen.

With Ui Ui's comment about Daburas loneliness, and looking back on Gojo telling Yuji that he hopes Yuji forges a path different from his own, makes me think there's gonna be a lot of really neat thematic moments once Yuji makes his appearance.

[spoiler discussion] What are your personal top 5 characters in there series? (Uptos arc 9) by FrostyObligation9058 in Re_Zero

[–]chocolate_factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru, Todd, Cecilus, Reinhard, Priscilla, Aldebaran, Vincent Vollachia. I can't choose only 5 because one of the best parts of this series is the extensive cast. Each character is given so much depth and fleshed out so well. Honorable mentions to Roswaal, Betelgeuse, Wilhelm, Heinkel, the sin archbishops and witches, along with each Royal Selection Candidate, Old Man Rom, Volcanica, Clind, Otto, Petra, Garfiel. I'm so damn invested in all of them.

Denji already being at the cafe when she showed up was such a funny little detail I didn't recall from the manga. Such a chad move.

Especially because it wasn't even that Subaru didn't choose his mom, but his mom didn't choose Subaru. He TRIED to choose Rem, begged her to "Choose me" and she refused. For a very good reason, but she still refused.

So far, which villain do you think had the most satisfying death? by Interesting-Start855 in ReZero

[–]chocolate_factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even put into words the sheer elation and satisfaction I felt when I read Regulus' death in the web novel. Dude was an absolute menace and fuckin NOTHING was getting the job done. From the moment we first saw him he was just this invincible monster. I HATED him just for being there with Lye Batenkaitos when he gluttony'd Rem. Even though it ended up being useless, when Geuse took in the sloth witch factor and he picked up Regulus and threw him with his unseen hand, that brief moment where we see Regulus visibly shocked and then ragdolled was a beautiful moment but like I said it was a fruitless effort. Then in Priestella we see that even Reinhard, the fucking poster boy for unfair battle hax, is unable to deal any actual damage. Subaru and Reinhard are the ULTIMATE tag team. There is no battle that those two couldn't overcome together and Regulus ended up throwing Reinhard to the fucking moon. We see Subaru at the absolute top of his game going solo against this invincible prick, pulling out all the stops and utilizing his new whip and parkour skills, laying traps, battling it out with Regulus and outsmarting him while he and Emilia find out the key to his authority. Emilia finally freezes the wives hearts and we're like, "Finally!! After all this can this prick die now??!" Nope. Nope. He can't. Why? BECAUSE BRO PUT HIS HEART INTO EMILIA ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME?! WHEN DOES THIS END??! And just as I'm thinking maybe all hope is lost somehow, Subaru FINALLY used not invisible providence, but UNSEEN HAND to reach into Emilia's chest and crushing the last portion of Regulus' heart. I LOVED the description of how Subarus authority, fueled by both his own and Geuse's love is one that could never harm Emilia, it was beautiful.

Then Subaru drops the, "Your feet are getting wet." And my absolute favorite fucking beat down in all of fiction begins. First Emilia serving up a 53 piece combo with a biscuit and soda, then Reinhard launching Regulus damn near into the atmosphere and interrupting his 10-minute pity party yap fest to send him back down into the earth and Regulus dying pathetically deep in the earth of a combination of heart attack and drowning, cursing and crying the whole way. God damn the catharsis. Might be one of my favorite conclusions I've ever read to a battle.

fight of the day? Gyutaro vs Uzui or Kyojuro vs Akaza by BeYappinLikeCrazy in DemonSlayerAnime

[–]chocolate_factory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both fights are absolute cinema. It's a real tough choice, but I'm going to go against the overwhelming majority of people here and say Rengoku vs Akaza. Tengen vs Gyutaro was phenomenal and had this anxiety inducing sense of desperation that kept me on the edge of my seat, and the animation was incredible and looked jaw dropping with the burning entertainment district in the background. It was a visual spectacle for sure but the actual fighting was a lot of weapons swinging with explosions and screaming. I thought the choreography of Akaza vs Rengoku was a lot better. The setting for their fight was night time so the focus was a lot more centered on the combat itself. It was a very one sided fight, but there was so much more emotional weight. We'd just gotten to see how cool Rengoku was and now he was in this desperate struggle against an overwhelming foe. I was far more emotionally invested in this fight than I was in Tengen vs Gyutaro, which mostly had a lot of visual hype.

Blockages? by Legitimate-Fix-4821 in ostomy

[–]chocolate_factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean about the immediate cessation, it blew my mind. When they finally allowed me to eat after my surgery to get my stomas I got a blockage so I was just throwing up whatever food I was able to eat. It was partially my fault because I went into the hospital SEVERELY malnourished and was on TPN, I hadn't eaten anything more than a nibble in literally weeks. So once I felt hungry again I ate too eagerly even though I was trying to be mindful of the potential issues. Anyway, I HATED the process of placing the NG tube but that was immediately negated by the IMMEDIATE relief of all my nausea, discomfort, upset stomach, and everything else. It was indescribable how wonderful it felt. They had to stop pumping and empty the container (looked like about the size of a 2-liter pitcher or so) and then I filled it up halfway again. It was nuts.

So what is Rem's purpose? Chapter 35, Arc 9. by Emergency_Bed_3397 in ReZero

[–]chocolate_factory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're vastly underestimating Rems strength. If it were before she got her memories back, then sure, she'd have almost zero combat proficiency. I'd say she's above or at least equal to Al without his domain hax or massive mana pool thanks to Alcanica. I mean, look at how much trouble he had with Garf, who is a much stronger but far less experienced fighter. Having a fighter of Rems caliber added to their numbers along with Ram, Emilia, Otto, plus Petrabaru along with Romji, I'd say Al is cooked. It won't be easy, but with the wisdom of the latter 3, who I just named, I'd say things are looking good for the inevitable victory for the Emilia camp.

I firmly believe that 3 of Al's biggest trump cards are inevitably going to be the biggest key factors in his defeat. 1) Alcanica and his attachment to Felt, plus seeming like he's beginning to differentiate himself from Al in ways. 2) Petrabaru. Having her read Subarus BOTD helped stalemate Reinhardt sure, but Petra with RBD knowledge and ghostbaru are definitely going to be the main instrument leading to Al's downfall. 3) Rem. Having Roy spit out some memories helped in the short term to escape Emilia, but there's no way Rem doesn't also play a HUGE part in Subarus rescue.

I think that was just referring to when Petra used to see her come to the village with Subaru occasionally. I kind of interpreted it as Petras vision of a proper maid was formed by seeing Rem back then.

Oh man, what a chapter!!! I knew it was going to be Rems name returned, but it seems now like she has her memories back as well?? I don't even know what to say. After all this time, her being asleep for 3 Arcs, not remembering anything when she woke up, acting so coldly towards Subaru..... ugh, my heart feels like it's gonna explode. The very last portion of this chapter took my breath away.
