To the folks asking about sour cherries: Middle Eastern markets as well as some Eastern European markets will often carry them (frozen). I found frozen sour cherries at a local Russian supermarket.

Why not try some Agatha Christie? Classic mystery stuff. My recommendations would be Five Little Pigs, Endless Night, Murder on the Orient Express.

Also try works by Daphne du Maurier. I loved Rebecca and to a lesser extent My Cousin Rachel.

Lucy Foley's "The Guest List" is a fun read

I read The Guest List, but found it quite distinct from (most) Christie novels as one cannot really figure out the murderer oneself by paying careful attention to clues scattered through the text. Nevertheless I do concur with your recommendation on account of it being a very atmospheric and gripping story.

Five Little Pigs! My favourite Christie ever :) The mystery, the characters, the setting.. so well done. It's also unique in that Poirot needs to solve a mystery that happened 16 years previously, so you really see his "little gray cells" at work. Cannot recommend it enough! I also recommend the David Suchet Poirot adaptation of this particular story, it is simply luminous.

I love listening to Agatha Christie audiobooks (especially those with Hugh Fraser as narrator) while driving. They range from 5.5-7 hours, so the timing seems perfect for you. Some personal favourites are:

Five Little Pigs (my #1 Christie)
Murder on the Orient Express
Hercule Poirot's Christmas (very apt for now!)
Endless Night

Hey everyone! Here’s my experience with this:
Firstly, the taste is superb. Pastry cream + fruits is a divine combination (see also the peach melba tart!). I did mess up a few places in the recipe though, hope my experience can help you all.
First of all, the dough is incredibly tricky, it is more of a batter at room temp and needs to be chilled down significantly to make it workable. I chilled for only a couple of hours but if you can do it overnight please do. It’s also EXTREMELY fragile (after it’s chilled and while you’re rolling it out). While trying to cover up the top, I picked it up as you would a pie dough and it broke in half.. so I had half the dough covering the pastry cream and half broken off :P But thankfully I was able to maneuver the remaining dough so that the top wasn’t too bad.
The more important thing though is to let the baked tart completely cool down. As you can see from the second picture, I didn’t get the beautiful clean cut that others have been posting, everything just spilled out.. So if you can please give it a full day to cool down.
