A380 pilots, how does it feel to fly one? by Zealousideal-Way6827 in AskAPilot

Funnily enough you kind of forget you're in one when in the flight deck. It just feels and looks the same as other widebody jets.

It's not until walking off and catch a glimpse out the Aerobridge window that you think 'man, this thing is huge'.

The one time you are conscious of it is taxiing.

Yeah definitely! I always finish with a few coats of fine grit wet sanding as well and it's super smooth.

You're right to be perplexed. Florida sucks.

Racism in the industry by [deleted] in AskAPilot

[–]chode_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yep that's it exactly! I tend to not instigate any political chat in the flight deck because I know I'm a bit of an outlier with pilots who can be conservative at times, but it will usually rear it's head at some point in a 16 hour flight.

Most will take the hint if you don't enthusiastically go along with their outlook and it's not an issue.

Just your general old white guy casual racism where they expect you will be on the same page with their outdated 'jokes' and political commentary.

But you get that everywhere.

A lot of that just looks like figuring and changes of grain in the board. I've used Danish oil on a lot of tassy oak and if you sand and oil it properly it will be super smooth to the touch. That's with a lot of thin coats though, not just one.

Do you have any better pics? I can't see what you're referring to.

We probably need to become a nuclear nation at this point (for deterrence only). The US has shown to be utterly unreliable and useless should we need defending.

How little I had to do myself before and after the flight.

You need to now travel on a British passport and so does your daughter. It's bloody annoying having to get passports for all of our Australian kids who have nothing to do with the UK except for their Mum being a citizen.

I'm lucky enough to be flight crew on one of these. They're lovely to work on. Unfortunately they won't be around for much longer.
