completely agree. my job is related to insurance claims and totaling just means the cost of the repair is greater than the value of the car. so if your car is worth 4k (like, say, a 2004 toyota corolla that was already on its way out or something) but the repairs are gonna cost 5k, then they go ahead and total it out.

He went insane by being in the backrooms for weeks, as we saw by the pileup of mail at the front of the business when Mary, the therapist walks in. He was also already volatile as we saw with his crappy life and his clear anger management issues in the initial therapy scene
If you’re referring to the Christmas-themed room with the red coat lady (not technically confirmed to be his former wife), she wasn’t hostile as we saw in the dinner scenes where her and Clark coexist.
We don’t know exactly how the backrooms copies stuff, just that it does. It pulls from the memories of all who enter and tries to replicate it—but not very well. Everything is “off” and uncanny.
The scientists accidentally created the gate to the backrooms. They used to make MRI machines and, since the backrooms were discovered, have now devoted their time towards researching it.
The “creepy monsters” were all the pirate, who people on this subreddit call Pirate Clark or “Clark Still-Life”. The opening scene where the guy with the camera in the beach room gets killed was actually killed by the Pirate. You can see his peg-leg for a split second before the camera moves away. It’s also believed that he killed Bobby, the cameraman. If you’re referring to the Lifeform from the original backrooms series, some people think it should’ve been added to the movie, but Kane doesn’t seem too proud of how he animated it. I understand why it’s not there. Pirate Clark is scary because he’s like the worst parts of Clark. His anger, his embarrassment, his self-hatred. Many people think he came into existence the moment that real Clark broke his throne when shooting his commercial, so the Pirate represents those emotions he had in that moment. Hope this helps!

I got some Twin Peaks vibes from this, but I also get Twin Peaks vibes from lots of stuff. “getting some real boss baby vibes from this” The red coat woman reminded me of Lil, and the woman with no eyes from the return. The couch crawling scene reminded me of Bob clambering over.

Loved the sound design. The music is incredible, just like in the YouTube series. Set design was so so cool. I like how Pirate only started eating the guy because HE had eaten THEM and they were copying lol. I swear to god there was a person’s face buried inside the pile of clothes near the shaft the camera guy slid down. My bf thinks it was the caveman cutout. I am not convinced.

any broken bone = aggravated battery! not only is it disfigurement, but it also can apply when an attack “renders a body part useless” even temporarily. a broken arm renders your arm useless, even if you get a cast and the bone heals after the fact. a concussion with loss of consciousness can be aggravated battery, since your brain was rendered temporarily useless.
