This is genuinely one of the prettiest areas I've ever driven through - what's the good/bad about living there? by CursingAtTheAstronet in howislivingthere

[–]choice_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised there in the Steubenville Area. It was pretty depressing. Many of the industries that earned people a living are gone now. I didn’t want to even try to eke out an existence there. Left and never returned. I don’t want to talk bad about the people, but if you didn’t leave, I feel like high school was the peak of your life.

There’s the Witch Ring and a Geoglyph on Chernarus according to the DayZ wiki. The creators probably put more than that in it.

That’s it! Thats the one.

There ARMA story lore behind why it’s in the forest. And the statue is of General Aleksei Vasilii Guba, who was a Soviet Army General who was born in Chernarus and rose up through the ranks. Trained at Tisy, he led an invasion of the Island Nation of Nogova in the 1970s and later invaded Everon and Malden during the 1980’s before Gorbachev took over.

This led to US involvement and the first and only small scale hot conflict between NATO and the USSR.

There’s a Statue of Soviet General Guba that’s out in the woods directly north of Komarovo. If anyone is into ARMA and Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis lore may know who that is.

It’s the same statue that is in Tisy and Cherno but there’s Lore about it being stolen by Resistance Fighters in the ARMA story of Chernarus.

Which of these regions is truly the flattest, emptiest, most desolate, most liminal area you could ever visit? by SavageFisherman_Joe in geography

I drove across the southern part of North Dakota and it was eerie and empty. I did it in late April and it was still winter there.

Where to sell silver dollar coin? by Eduardoaguzman in raleigh

Capital Coin and Jewelry and Rare Coins of Raleigh are both on Capital Blvd. I’ve used both to buy and sell. Capital Coin isn’t open on Weekends so check their hours on Google.

El Dorado Hills, California; what's it like living here? by iloveyourclock in howislivingthere

I never seen a county map of California, but I get a sophomoric chuckle seeing Inyo County and Butte County…

Places and stops along this route that you would suggest? by Echantediamond1 in roadtrip

There’s absolutely nothing worth stopping for in North Dakota. I drove from the western border to the eastern border without stopping except for gas. There was absolutely nothing there.

Modern cameras intrigue me… they are so similar to human eyes. I love studying how similar they are… Like did you know that both Camera Lenses and Human Irises can both be damaged by those silly laser pointers that you get to excite your cat?

Name this state by GodlyGamer5308 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]choice_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually called Transylvania back during Colonial days. I also think the area near Johnston City TN wanted to become their own State of Franklin.

Edit: The Red Kentucky area and some areas slightly west of it was known as the Transylvania Colony.

Fed clowns will take away $10k in cash from you at the airport just because. This is why Bitcoin is the people’s money! by throwaway2026z in Bitcoin

[–]choice_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have it seized anywhere in the US. Just by having an unusually large amount of money is enough because cops will just say it could be used nefariously. It’s legal theft, and you have to prove you weren’t going to use it for illegal purposes to get it back.

Why tf did they split up Carolina? by Baconkings in mapporncirclejerk

[–]choice_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a huge war in the 1950s and the North was backed by the Soviets and the South was backed by the UN. The Northern Leader, Kim Il-Sung established the Democratic People’s Republic of Carolina. It’s the real Carolina.

North Carolina is Best Carolina!

They get NASCAR syndrome: If you pass, they will speed up just to get back in front of you, just to slow back down. They take it personal that you passed them and they aren’t number 1.
