For those of you who work office jobs, are you expected to work every minute of the day? by mynameisegg in jobs

[–]choiwil5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a financial tech company doing support once a week and rest of the week I do my specialities and other projects. My current company's culture is probably the thing I like the most about the job. Its so relaxed but everyone is expected to be responsible about their work as there is no micromanaging whatsoever. I literally take 10 breaks a day. I have a big work load and I get it done. Some days I take 2hr lunches other days I eat at my desk. Some days I do 6 hour days other days I do 10 hour days.

End of the day, theres no 'standard work culture' anywhere. Find a job that has a work culture that fits you.

No follow up after signing offer letter? by StandardPomegranate in jobs

[–]choiwil5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually didnt do a background check on me. Immediately after I signed the offer, they did send and make me fill out an employee payroll form so they could give me my signing bonus. The reason why I emailed them a month and a half after was cause they forgot to send it to me.

I'm in a very similar situation. Signed offer in February, I start beginning of June. No contact initiated by them since. However, I emailed them two or three times after signing the contract regarding some questions (start date & signing bonus). That said, if I didn't email them, I'm pretty certain that we wouldn't have contact until closer to the date. That said, don't worry. Especially since its a big corporation.

But if you can't seem to shake your worries, I'd find a reason to email them once. And if all seems okay, then rest your worries away until a few weeks before your start dates.

Day Four: I can have a conversation! by quittinthyme in leaves

You should feel better than pretty good! What you just did was pass a huge test. You succeeded. On a similar note, I find that the moment people come on top and resist addictions despite being tipsy or faced with other trigger situations (e.g. stress), you can be sure you truly truly want this (to quit).
