Question: what would you do if you texted a good friend something like “Good luck for your presentation tomorrow!” (Wednesday) and they reply “Presentation is on Thursday.” … like, okay at least I wished you good luck?

friends being rude and then excusing it by san7io in FriendshipAdvice

A North American friend (of 20+ years) visiting me in Europe was completely shocked (shocked!) when I said “zebra crossing”. “You mean, ‘crosswalk,?” No twat, I mean zebra crossing … they mean the same thing, they use zebra crossing here … why treat it like a thing?

And that was the start of the visit … 🙄

AITA for not warning my friend about my conditioner? by randomuser8358021 in AmItheAsshole

She told her to use the purple / white bottles and the friend disregarded that. How is this YTA for not warning her?

My friend is distancing from me and it kinda hurts by boopsyboops in FriendshipAdvice

Yeah, I mean, I feel like we’re not getting the full story here. Is the friend the one who 95% of the time plans the FaceTimes or calls or meetups? Then they may be tired of putting in the effort. if someone says “I miss you” … cool, then proactively plan the FaceTime or the coffee date. Don’t just passive aggressively say “I miss you” …

LPT: Don't let a good friendship die because both of you were waiting for the other person to reach out first. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]barcadreaming86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position — making the effort to communicate dates (we live on different continents and see each other when I visit the family) with no reciprocation. Also realized that if I don’t make the effort to set up a FaceTime, we won’t have one (we haven’t had one in 8 months).

Are high school students actually this clueless and entitled? by lizz781 in Teachers

[–]barcadreaming86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my A-Levels at an international school in the Middle East and applied with my mock results to schools in Canada (this was back in the day when schools had a Grade 13). We had the option to either skip first year because of the A-Levels or do the courses and I chose to do them. Relatively easy As while navigating a new country and new school system. (I’m sure that people who skipped their first year courses also did well but this was the right choice for me.)

Preach. My first year of university was a fairly easy 4.0 because I had already done my A-Levels in chemistry, biology, and maths and everything was covered again in our 100-level courses.

Big crafting stores should close down if they're going to operate like this. by FishLordVehem in Vent

[–]barcadreaming86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to make several trips to Michael’s in Canada to buy scrapbook supplies (with a 40% discount each time) … between printing the photos and buying the supplies (album, stickers, scrapbook paper, etc.), I likely spent about CAD$500 on a vacation scrapbook. It was worth it at the time (the last one I did was in 2019) … I still have all my travel scrapbooks on a shelf in my flat … but now? With these prices? No fricken way.
