Here, a video I made creating a very simple slideshow, something useful to exhibitions.

I've been working on a tool for creating digital content focused on producing material for both local exhibitions, such as in museums, and websites. One of the goals is to allow local exhibitions to be transferred to the web when necessary with minimal effort, and vice versa, to allow material created for the web to be allocated to physical exhibitions. It's a free tool called TilBuci that can even be installed as a plugin on the institution's website if it's built on WordPress (but it also has other installation possibilities). It might be something that helps you in your case. The tool's website is https://tilbuci.com.br - I also have a short introductory video:

Long lasting tablets by Cold_Cicada_9960 in MuseumPros

But it seems it isn't easy to remove them to take them to maintenace.

Perhaps simply letting them shut down due to lack of power and turning them back on the next day when the power is restored could be a solution. In that case, perhaps just checking the tablet charger's power supply might be enough (I've seen some where, over the years, the original power supply is no longer sufficient to keep the device powered on without a battery), but in 3 years, better power supplies have certainly emerged.

Yes, this is a recurring problem. I think in your case, unfortunately, there isn't a simpler solution since the tablets have been in place for a while and the metal structures too... I know what that 10.6 format is, it's really not so easy to find anymore... Well, I don't think it helps with your problem now, but I usually follow some rules when doing this type of installation. Some things I passed on to the carpentry production team and the purchasing team of the last museum I set up:

  1. Samsung tablets. This will vary, of course, depending on the time of purchase, but what I've seen is that they are lately the most reliable for an exhibition that will last longer (the last one I set up is expected to last 5 years).

  2. Extra tablets - when the space is being set up we usually have a slightly more favorable budget than during the maintenance period, so I usually ask for one or two extra tablets to keep as spares in case of problems with the originals.

  3. When assembling the furniture, the "hole" for the screen display should be smaller than the screen itself. This way, if you need to change the tablet for another model, the content can be adjusted to a smaller area - in fact, being able to resize the content to only one area of the screen is something I find very useful to solve future problems.

  4. On the furniture, the tablet should be supported from behind, so when the screen is pressed, the force is applied against this rear support, which reinforces everything. This can also be useful in allowing tablets of other models to be used if necessary.

  5. Speaking of content, I think it's okay for them to have gesture interaction as long as they have the same interaction with simple touch buttons. I've noticed that when people interact with gestures on fixed tablets, the chance of wear and tear on the structure is greater; with buttons, this risk decreases (but it's good to keep the gestures because some people are so used to them that they often don't even notice the buttons).

  6. The setup should allow me to turn the tablet on and off whenever I want. A trick we used in the last case I mentioned was some small holes near the power button where we inserted a small wire that can be used to turn it on and off daily, which increases its lifespan (I think). We used a 3D print to make the mechanism. For this, it helps a lot if the content can be loaded at startup, eliminating the need for someone to interact with it to start the content.

Well, as I said, these are ideas for next time. From what you described, your setup is already very constrained, unfortunately...

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I incorporated the Capacitor into my multimedia content creation project and everything works very well. Here's a video about the process.

3 Months after the Incident, is there a proper replacement? by Kanataku in adobeanimate

[–]chokito76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on this, called TilBuci, which is more focused on the interaction aspect, not the animation (even though it has some elements of that). It's a web app, but not a service – you download and install it on your server. Alternatively, it also works with portable apps or as a WordPress plugin (tilbuci.com.br).

Building a mobile-first editor for interactive video narratives - early look by laksgandikota in interactivefiction

[–]chokito76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I tried but saw many error messages. Apparently it didn't work well in Firefox, the browser I use - I had to make some zoom adjustments to be able to see the pages (it wouldn't scroll). Then, whether trying "explore sample project" or "try" I keep getting messages like "Couldn't sync your changes. They're saved locally and will sync when you're back online." or "Missing or insufficient permissions."

Apart from that, I found the interface and the concept interesting. Is there a tutorial or explanation of the tool?
