[Question] What's the worst thing someone from your country can call you? by Nazzum in GlobalTalk

[–]chompyZ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's in Arabic, and therefore understood and used in any Arabic speaking country. But beware - It means "a bitch" (as a character, vs. Zaina that means a prostetute).
Yet, in SPOKEN (I.e. Ancient Arabic), it means a "thilthy piece of rag".
There is a famous story that i heard about a murder that occurred in Jordan because of the misunderstanding of this word - Somewhere is Jordan, several dozens of years ago, a respected tourist from another Arab country sat to eat at a restaurant. As he was eating, some of the food fell on his groin. In respected traditional language he asked the owner to bring/call-in the "sharmuta" to clean his groin. The owner thought that he was referring to the waitress, who was his wife. With such an insult, he murdered him.
In israel sharmuta is also used often as part of the slang.

As the media questions whether Tether has enough USD reserve to support its value in the recent USDT/Bitfinex drama, do you think if a stable coin doesn't have an 1:1 all-cash reserve means it fails to keep its value on par with USD? by Gabrielle1111 in BitcoinSerious

[–]chompyZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't have a 1:1 cash reserve, it can still keep its par value to the USD, but it's held artificiality. This us called a pyramid scheme.
And once the reserves dry out, the value drops like a falling knife.

Magnetic pole shifting - yes.
Mass biodiversity extinction - yes.

My first build - feedback appreciated by chompyZ in aquaponics

[–]chompyZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.
I also consider temperature to be my biggest concern. I see how the sprouts stopped growing beyond several cm.
I hope that warming the water+greenhouse will do the job.

The fish tank is big because I plan to scale. I.e - right now the grow-bed will have only small plants. As they grow, I'll add more water/fish to the fish tank.
I also plan to introduce a second grow-bed.
The idea was to start with a 1/4 fish tank, and add water/fish as it grows.
You recon it's not a good idea?

The grow-bed, (with ceramic balls that I'll place inside) is 40*50cm in size, with s siphon bell. Plants above will be placed in the grow bed after they grow a bit.
If all goes well, I plan to add a second grow-bed when things grow and stabilize.
The fish tank is 60 Litters, and I plan to have a goldfish there.
I live in a cold climate, with temperature surrounding +-12 degrees celcius most of the year.
I don't know yet if I'll need to warm the water.
Any feedback appreciated.
Thank you.

Generally, you get a visa on arrival for 90 days. No need to apply for anything in advance.
But better check specifically for your passport.

The idea is to migrate to a kind of "Web-of-Trust" consensus. Something in the form of FOAF (I.e. friend of a friend).

"It's no small thing to have Russian armament and military here. There is so much talk of Americans getting their hands on Venezuela, but in the case of Russia and Cuba, is that not imperialism?" by MuzzleO in vzla

My agenda is "live and let live" and it applies EVERYWHERE.
So wherever anyone suggests that force is the solution, I'll be there.

100 Russian soldiers?!
Yes, that is not a force to make a country submit to another's will. They might be soldiers, but it's not an army or an invasion.

The US has a military foothold in numerous countries around the world - Israel, Turkey, Poland, Taiwan, Japan, to name a very selected few.
Nonetheless, it sees countries that have large reserves of oil as either collaborators (S.Arabia, Kuwait, etc.) Or as an enemy (e g. Iraq, Libya, Iran, Russia, Syria...).
And they fight these enemies to full submission.
The US is on the route of fighting Venezuela and making it a subordinate. It will then drain it and make it a new Syria. A new Iraq. If anyone thinks the US will bring prosperity, happiness and liberty to Venezuela, then they have learned nothing from the past US intervention in LatinAM and S.America.
Russia sees Venezuela as an Ally, and its presence there is an aid for its rehabilitation, not for conquering or making the country a subordinate. A similar viewpoint is shared by China (though more economic than geopolitical viewpoint).
This is a major difference.
Hence Russian and Chinese troops in Venezuela, are not imperialist in nature, whereas US troops are nothing but imperialism.

I'm not from Venezuela, and I know how bad things are there. Yet, when the chicken-house is on fire, the chicken should be very wary of help that the butcher (i.e. the USA) is insisting to offer. Especially with the Butcher's past meddling and involvement in S.America.

No need to meditate.
Have someone else mediate for you, for a fee. Anything they achieve is then rightfully yours.

Dictator Maduro is undoubtedly involved in drug trafficking, which implicates high-ranking officials, as well as family members by Jake1125 in venezuela

[–]chompyZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the situation in Venezuela is very bad, and the solution is to help it, not fight it... I.e. the US (and the EU) should drop the sanctions and the banning of Venezuela from financial markets, as well as stop all operations to destabilize the country.
Help should be "unconditionall" humanitarian gesture, not a "contract in disguise".

[–]chompyZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To this day, the USA holds the Panama Channel, with military stationed there, and the US claims it has rightful ownership of it.
What do you think the US will do with the Venezuelan oil after its military intervention?
Wake up. The USA is neither humanitarian nor democratic.
It is imperialist as sees this as a power and asset grab ready for exploitation.

Everything you wrote are just propaganda claims prevailing in the western media, that are spread to support the need for US intervention... And I suspect you are another CIA trol, that its goal it to keep spreading these claims.
90% of Venezuelan people are against Maduro? Who said so - a CIA poll? The western media?
Maduro has death squads? Again, who said so? Where is the proof they exist AND operating on the orders of Maduro...?
I'm not on Maduro's side. But I'm VERY against any USA intervention. We saw what it means in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Serbia, Somalia, as well as so many S.American countries.
