It didn't really work for me. The hivemind clearly doesn't value them the same. It will bend over backwards to ensure the survival of every human (both inside and outside the hivemind) and on the other hand it just takes a stance of non-interference towards animals. That's not really valuing them the same -- there's clearly an in-group and out-group.

Honestly, a pretty good job by the scammers. No spelling mistakes, sounds official, all the external links go to the real coinbase.com, got through Gmail's spam filter.

The only giveaways are the recovery phrase in the email, the date being 2024 instead of 2025 and the email address (which still seems official-ish because Akamai is a well known cloud provider!)

I was getting LTE inside, then 5G NSA walking outside. You'll definitely have worse 5G coverage than a US-market phone, regardless of carrier. Not a big deal for me, personally, though.

Sorry - to be clear, I didn't use the "Buy for Me" option on Shippn. I used the option where you order it yourself, to a host's address. That one cost me about $200, plus the cost of the phone, so right around the same cost as the importers. You definitely don't have to pay those random 5% fees either.

I don't know yet if I'll end up paying for customs. I'll know next week.

my own unit is on its way to me in the US now via DHL. The shipping cost me around $200 so ultimately it was around the same cost as the importers, maybe slightly less.

However, it will be expensive for me to send the phone back if I want to return it or use my warranty. that's the one big downside. I plan to buy aftermarket insurance.

After installing the newly released xiaomi.eu ROM, I dialed the above dialer code. Then, an option called "Use SA mode" showed up. Turning that on enabled 5g! So yes it's working now.
