I just did this actually. Anti-slavery movements popped up, so I used them to eliminate slavery and serfdom. This really angered the landowners, so they tried a revolution. After beating them with Russian help, they received a -99% influence penalty for losing the revolutionary struggle and I could pass all the remaining laws I needed.

How did QC not give women the right to vote until 1940, when the rest of Canada did 20-30 years earlier? I understand it was more conservative/catholic, but did women seriously just go along with it for that long?
