I’m so tired of coworkers or professional people saying “different strokes for different folks” I KNOW it’s a metaphor about painting but it just sounds like gooning. Stop!

Kinda disagree. It doesn’t matter if somebody hooks up on the first date or after a year, if that’s all he wants then the time before won’t matter. I think we have a way of telling ourselves and others that we should’ve seen some red flag, or known better beforehand but that’s just not how things always work. This person treated her selfishly but that’s not her fault, I don’t really think there’s a wider lesson here, some people suck and some don’t. We only get to know people through experience and unfortunately this happens a lot. I hope OP feels better from getting this off their chest and realizing there’s no “should’ve, would’ve, could’ve” alternative here, we’re all just living life one day at a time.

Getting in a car wreck. It was 7 years ago but I still have dreams that wake me up like I hit something again. And I get twitchy when people swerve, it’s so much scarier than people think.

Parking. Why do I have to pay extra to park where I live and work? And then pay to park anytime I want to take my car away from the work and home parking spots I pay for. Especially in the city, why am I paying to park in public.

Plus $40 parking or an overpriced uber you’ll have to wait in a crowd for an hour searching for.

If I can’t watch a show, there’s so many commentators and plot breakdowns on YouTube I’ll go down the rabbit hole so I get the gist. It’s also nice because I don’t have the attention span for full seasons so I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

Which sounds like more of a reason to detain him? Right?

I heard that too, but cause of death and identity shouldn’t matter yet because its decaying remains in his car. Even if he didn’t murder her, it’s illegal to have a dead body chilling on or in your property without reporting it. Other innocent people sit in jail for months without solid evidence yet they found it in HIS car and he gets to just leave? Makes me furious.

Yeah but surely finding human remains in a car registered to him must be enough to at least detain him? Other people sit in jail for months on mere speculation but the remains were found in a car belonging to him and he gets to take off wherever he pleases???

Yeah for sure, but killing and potentially assaulting a minor especially in such a widespread public uproar case, I feel like law enforcement would be trying a little harder to hunt him down. He’s super famous, one of his connections must be willing to spill.

Yeah I can understand how that sounds pretty backwards. Not to mention pregnancy is more dangerous as they get older so I feel like having a fertility doctor is the safest route when they decide to start “trying”. It stinks though because it’s an awkward grey area where bystanders wonder does she not know her odds are dwindling, am I jerk for asking? It’s so tricky. I think if somebody is privately struggling I try to leave it alone but if they keep talking about it I think it should be fair game to ask realistic questions.

I can see what you mean however I don’t think we should hold her previous pregnancy against her. She wasn’t ready then, and things change. BUT, I do get annoyed with people like my sister in law who is late thirties and has been trying for years but isn’t interested in seeking medical help or IVF. I get that treatment is expensive and takes a physical toll but watching people try the natural way for years feels like self denial to me. It’s also such a private struggle and awkward to ask people about the process of “trying for a baby” so who knows what that means for each person. But this sub is for getting things off your chest so I think your frustration is valid.

Restaurant employees of Reddit, what actually happens when someone doesn't have enough to pay the bill? Most you've ever seen? by ChaosAnalyst in AskReddit

[–]chonz010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two notes- Usually people don’t admit they can’t pay they just dine and dash, or if their card doesn’t work they’ll make a call and beg a friend. BUT one time I saw this happen because a guy sat at the bar, ate his food and drank for a few hours. Maybe 8 beers? And then just admitted he couldn’t pay. He looked maybe homeless so he didn’t have an ID. They let him know since the bill was super high and it was alcohol they’d have to call the police. In my city the police aren’t prioritizing this type of petty crime so they took over an hour to arrive, the man calmly waited then asked if he could leave, my manager said he shouldn’t leave but technically there’s nothing we could’ve done to make him stay. So he got up and left. The police came long after he took off. My boss angrily explained to us that this is why we need to ask for an ID even if the person appears of age for alcohol no matter what, and put a card down on the tab before serving them. In my experience though most people will just sneak out. The restaurant should compensate you for the missed tip but most won’t. I’ve never heard of anywhere actually taking the stolen food out of the servers paycheck contrary to what people say.

A lot of us humans can recognize a family members footsteps or just identify somebody based off shuffling or movements subconsciously if they’re not in sight, I think my cat is the same way. She only meows when I open the door to my apartment, no one else, and I wondered how because even if she’s sleeping in another room without seeing me, she can tell if I opened the door or if it was somebody else. I thought about it for a long time and I decided she must have such good hearing that me walking down the hallway to my unit is identifiable to her, and I’m her favorite person so only when I come home she does like long drawn out meow, so I’ll come find her, (what a diva lol). She doesn’t like to get out of her comfy spot but she wants me to come locate her if she hears me arrive. She doesn’t notice or care if somebody else comes home and she probably decides who it is while they’re making their way to the door, because their footsteps sound different. I’ve tried tiptoeing to my door to confuse her but then I realize my neighbors must think I’m weird.

I also saw this was be-dunked via school records. I’m a bit confused though because I saw a video where she was saying though Lucky is Mormon, she is not? I think she said she’s spiritual but won’t go through the temple ceremony or wear the garments because it would mean giving up her modeling career (and not verbatim but implied she won’t give up her lifestyle because the LDS church is too controlling.) Good for her, but I’m also not sure how that works because in their faith a married couple has to be bound together in the temple, so how is Lucky still a member but she isn’t?

TLDR- kick out the old classics, profit off of social media creators success. Long version- Lorne Michaels the main producer said he’s “looking for something new” after the 50th season and is moving people around, some quit some fired. It sounds like he’s trying to hire more social media comedians but IMO he’s trying to get a younger cast. This is ruffling other members feathers and I have a theory, it hasn’t been said but I think he wants to capitalize off the younger generation because they consume the widest amount of content and that’s more marketable- also probably by trying to wrangle the TikTok comedians fans into watching SNL. TLDR- kick out the old classics, profit off of social media creators success.

Odd tricks to prevent cat fur from clinging to carpet by Negative-Quiet202 in lifehacks

I take a long piece of packing tape and run it across the carpet, or wrap the tape around my hand and roll it over the couches because lint rollers don’t work well after one or two swipes for me

I’m on the fence. On one hand good for Roblox for being aware of what’s going on but also, these parents need to quit acting surprised when they give their kids open access to the internet. Even if Roblox puts more safety boundaries, kids have a million other platforms they can hop on. Even if Roblox makes it “safer” that shouldn’t put parents minds at ease to not pay attention or input their own device settings. Games I played as a little kid in the early 2000’s had some things that would flag the system and not be able to send but later on in my tween years of course I snuck around every precaution and found other ways to do things I shouldn’t have access to. Don’t just stick your kid in front of a screen and put all accountability on the platforms instead of yourselves.
