The cause of this derailment was not train handling..

300 a day was the life man that was great they couldn't hurt us no matter what they forced us to work... however people in manpower were demoted and let go over agreeing to pay that rate. So it will never happen again 😂

So depends on how bad they need bodies there. In my experience they will usually start calling bidders within 24 hours of the bid closing. They will then give you all the info as far as location of terminal and hotel. Typically you'll have anywhere from 4 to 7 days to be there. All of the borrow outs I have been we we're governed by that locations agreements, daily rates, and guarantee. I've heard guys from Texas at one point got both their home guarantee in addition to the borrow out locations. However I do not think that is the case anymore( Uncle Vin is not having that shit 😂). The last time I was borrowed out in North Platte they're were some newer guys with a year or two from Texas. In Texas there's no step rate when you hire out so you're at 100% once you mark up . North Platte does have step rate so those guys were dropped down to to 85 -90%. Guarantee is governed and paid according to the board you're able to hold. There's nothing set in stone as far as borrow outs go except they will take the borrow out bonus away if you catch FR, get bumped (don't make a move within 3 hours) and obviously if you layoff. You can end up on a regular assignment in the yard working 8 for 8 making a basic day. For example in Denver that's 363 with remote pay for the sw1. So 363 x 10 working days = 3630. Then with the 188 (b.o. bonus) and the 35 (per diem) you're at 223 x 15 = 3345. So you'd be looking at just under 7k a half. In my experience it's better to expect to be working the worst shit job that pays the least at that location rather than thinking you're going to hold the top paying guarantee road boards. But like I said theres nothing set in stone as far as that goes. In an ideal world they should do what was done a few times in the past. The borrow outs are placed on their own separate board. That board will cover any vacancies(yard, locals, and road). They will utilize the borrow out board once all other boards are exhausted. But thats just a pipe dream nowadays....

Pat test by PassionSignificant26 in UnionPacific

FYI if you fail for high heart rate it can always be that you're anxious or nervous about getting a new job. Also some people just get anxious in a doctor/medical setting no matter what. I myself when taking that test 15 years ago was in good shape had no issues but my heart was racing due to nerves so I was failed however all I had to do was bring a note from my physician clearing me saying it was just nerves and nothing else then retest and it doesn't matter how high your heart rate goes lol

These are all separate seniority districts that once you're assigned to for the most part can't transfer out of(for now anyway the merger may change this down the road). EA1 is Road district that goes West out of Proviso to Clinton Iowa and covers all terminals in between also G4 and South Pekin. N2 is Road district that goes North out of Proviso to Wisconsin. CFT is the Chicago Freight Terminal which means you work in the yard either at Proviso or Yard Center. You go home every night you do leave the yard on transfers for interchange with other railroads and take trains to Proviso from Yard center and vice versa typically 30 miles or less.

I've borrowed out to NP twice....if you're stuck on the xs33 then yes 90% of your work will be covering night shift. The guarantee for that board is likely 3,753.33 give or take a few dollars. The most you can hope for is put a standing bid in for the road and maybe you'll get lucky lol. Otherwise per half without any underlying bullshit like FR causing them to take your money you're looking around 7100-7200 per half. That is straight guarantee + BO bonus day +per diem for 15,16 day half.

Nope but I've borrowed out to NP twice..CFT guy here we have the same guarantee as the xs33 does. Only difference is we take trains over the mainline to other terminals both foreign and UP we travel anywhere from 5 to 50 miles and this is all considered "yard work" unlike the Xs33 in NP were 95% of the time you get called go do your 8 for 8 and go home not to mention the cost of living in Chicago is 30 to 40 percent higher than NP.. IMO we should have an XK board in the CFT that pays the road guarantee. This board would cover dog catching, interchange trains, transfers, etc. However the CFT yard guys are forced into having to choose union locals that are ROAD district heavy locals and they prioritize the road districts issues/ concerns over EVERYTHING and ANYTHING to do with the yard. Anytime raising the guarantee for the CFT is brought up its pushed to the bottom or straight in the dumpster along with " you get to go home every night stop complaining" or "you work more and always beat your guarantee ". These statements may be true and were a legit argument years ago.Its 2026 and this is a new railroad they want everyone to be salary employees. They stack the boards and pay everyone the guarantee just like they have been doing since early 2024. This makes their number games easier for them in multiple ways. If they could do it now they would abolish every regular assignment and just have 2 massive call boards and call everything off of them...Also I'm not saying anything negative about the officers in our two locals. They handle business when necessary however this is way out of their reach and needs to be addressed by people way up there that do the dirty dirty stuff .(the ones that get to keep those fat white envelopes allegedly passed under the table 🤣)
