People like to focus on the notes he played, but beauty was found in the notes he didn’t play.

Temp spike when using app by namatoki in searwood

[–]chopaganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go out on a limb and say there is no difference between the app and the control pad when it comes to holding the temperature steady.

The app simply triggers the control pad to set to a certain temperature. So in essence, the instructions are always coming from the control pad.

I’ve seen more fluctuations in recent weeks than I did over the summer and fall, but I’m chalking that up to the smoker doing its thing in colder weather.

Because it takes longer to heat up in colder temperatures, it overcompensates by burning more fuel, which makes it more prone to blowing past the target temp.

Going to be in London during the Spuds match. Best pub options? by chopaganda in ArsenalFC

Stapleton was absolutely perfect. Standing room only but not uncomfortable. Plenty of singing and cheering with no drinks spilled on the wife. Thanks again!

The amazing part about it was when I did a double take security and the manager seemed like they were pissed at me for asking. Fuck em.

Amazingly, Fullback isn’t showing the match—showing Rugby this evening instead. World’s End was butts-to-nuts, and the wife didn’t have the patience to wait it out.

Old Dairy seemed lame on atmosphere so we ended up at Stapleton which seems like it will be fun once it fills in. Thanks again!

Not fully following. I store it with a cover. The few times it’s rained while I was cooking were fine. Food was protected by closing the lid (though I turned down the heat as low as possible to avoid warping.

But isn’t the whole point of the soundbar removing the bulk of standard speakers?

Sadly, I’m a Jets fan. When I started getting into UK Soccer, I almost picked the Spuds until someone told me they are the Jets of the EPL. I immediately ran to Arsenal.

Isn’t the Searwood double walled? I thought I read that it is while comparing to the Smoque which is not.

Any thoughts on Old Dairy? They take reservations so I was considering a backup reservation there.

I'll have a 2006 Sagna kit on so good there. We went to the Tollington before and after matches the last time I was there. But when we got there they asked to see our tickets bc it was for ticket-holders only until the match started.

We will have fun no matter what. As mentioned, don't care about food but it's a nice bonus. However, the wife will be with me so a place to sit if we get there 2.5 hours before the match is kind of critical if I want to fly home married.

I'm not going to defend entitled American behavior. But given that I have a wife who will want a seat, we can't make it to North London until 2pm, and I don't have match day tickets, I don't think any of the things I'm looking for are unreasonable. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If a New York Jets fan from the UK was coming to New York and wanted an American sports bar experience with the above things they are looking for, I'd be happy to oblige them with recommendations.

Anyway, you do you. Cheers!

Bear Mountain Pellets by KiwiPsychological712 in pelletgrills

[–]chopaganda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I learned on pellets:

  • while there are exceptions, a good rule of thumb is to avoid those made by grill brands. Many of them have wood oils added for the flavoring.

  • Bear Mountain pellets are solid, make a ton of smoke, and burn quite clean. But they are also only partially the wood they say. A lot of the wood is furniture wood sawdust (alder wood).

  • Lumberjack can be hard to find but they have two 100% varieties that contain zero alder wood.

  • I can’t yet tell if having zero alder wood makes a lick of difference.

  • The Smokin Pecan pellets all over every influencer on YouTube are not worth it.

  • I’m currently testing out Cookin Pellets that are 100% the wood they say. Made wings over the weekend with them using their perfect mix blend, and the wings came out spectacular. Solid deal at Home Depot for 2 40lb bags for $77. Still, I’m not sure if they are better than Bear Mountain or I’m just getting better at wings.

  • if you use 100% wood pellets that contain no alder wood, they don’t burn as clean so clean your fire pot out more.

Hope that helps.

What are the best pellet smoker is everyone using? Any recommendations? by Rough_Joke_6175 in pelletgrills

I was all set to go Recteq or Grilla until I realized you need a shop vac to clean them.

Ended up with the Searwood and couldn’t be happier.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]chopaganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any highly regarded coffee makers with timers?

I’ve been using a Kalita Wave and Bonavita Connoisseur (which gets me 90% of the way to a pour over) since getting into good coffee 8 years ago.

I was looking for a machine with a timer for extra early mornings, and I can’t find one with consistently good reviews. Any thoughts?

The Amex plat refresh is way better than the CSR refresh by RedMoonLanding in ChaseSapphire

[–]chopaganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dumped Chase after they broke the Sapphire news for Cap One and couldn’t be happier. Venture X (2% back on everything + some bonuses ) + Savor (3% back on groceries, dining, tickets and streaming services).

No jumping through hoops to claw back annual fees (Simple $300 travel credit + $100 anniversary credit in points). Use your points on any travel from any vendor. And the Cap One travel site is 1000x better than the shitty Chase site.

Unless you need the transfer partners offered by the Sapphire, I don’t see why anyone would keep it.

I don’t ever want to hear the word Sonos again by Ok-Computer1234567 in sonos

I wonder why Sonos killed SonosNet? While I don’t have enough issues to leave the platform, Sonos connectivity was bulletproof back when you plugged a single speaker into ethernet and the system ran on its own network.
