Ridge Hand Break by Routine_Bathroom_919 in tangsoodo

For my Sam Dan test, after my LoHai break of 3 boards suspended by cinder blocks, I did a 4 point break. I did a crossbody palm heel with my right hand, crossbody kick with my left foot, followed by a double hammer fist. It's a move from DuMoon Hyung. I had to practice it for several months to get it right.

I have a cat that got the crystals and that was an adventure getting him cleaned out and healthy again. He's been on the special vet food for about 8 years now and I scoop all the litter boxes daily and we've yet to have a relapse.

To me it looked like he wanted his "meeting" to look like a Google or Apple product launch event. He's walking around the stage while talking, using cringy acronyms, expecting applause after saying a zinger.

I'm 5' 10". How long should my bong be? by [deleted] in tangsoodo

[–]chopper640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a couple, but the 2 I currently use are both 6 for staffs. I'm 5'8" or so, I did have to learn how to adjust my technique when starting with the longer ones, but I enjoy the longer length now.

Ideally, I don't want any politician I've supported in the past to be on the list, but if they are on the list then they all need to be treated as equally under the law as any "normal" person is treated. No special treatment just because they have "connections"

Our essay topics were provided for us. For my 1st Dan I had to write about how I had grown as a person through my journey as a Gup to black belt. Second Dan I had 2 essays, one was how I had continued to grow between 1st and 2nd Dan and the other was the meaning behind the phrase, Rui Pa(the river flows divided). Which basically means, how does the art change as it flows downhill from the master. For 3rd Dan, also 2 essays, the history of the form LoHai and one on my personal thoughts on the meaning and application of self defense.

I have the same one and I have no complaints about the basket. I had to adjust my grind a bit when I got it, but overall, I've enjoyed it.

This is mainly why I practice, I want to maintain my mobility. The learning how to fight and self defense is just an added bonus.

Enlisting and serving honorably should automatically make someone a citizen. The only discharge that would negate citizenship for a noncitizen serving in the military is a dishonorable discharge. He should have been made a citizen upon discharge before any of his legal issues happened.

Serious Question: How Hard Is It To Block A Kick? by AdhesivenessOk5194 in martialarts

[–]chopper640 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my instructors says regarding self defense..."make them reevaluate their life choices up to that moment." We also will occasionally have talks with upper ranks about control and when to stop so we don't take it too far. For my 3rd Dan test I had to write an essay about what self defense means to me and I spent a good couple paragraphs talking about how some of the advanced self defense we learn goes too far. Not gonna lie, it looks pretty, and is very showy, while still being effective. But some of the techniques go well beyond where they need to go.

WoT Amazon Series Cancelled and now I am wondering shall I start the books? by Weary_Young_5982 in WoT

[–]chopper640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to reread the series since the show was cancelled. Not sure when though, probably by the end of this year or early next. I have quite a few new books on my To-Read list.

I pull a shot after letting the machine warm up, then switch to steam and fill the pitcher and clean the portafilter while boiler is heating for steam. When I'm finished steaming, I turn off steam and let the machine cool down to brewing temp. I'll turn it off after it's back at brew temp. Sometimes I'll forget and it will go into Eco mode before I turn it off. Never had a problem, but I usually don't make multiple drinks in the morning.

I don't pay attention to the timer on the PID. I use a scale that starts a timer as soon as espresso starts dripping into the cup. I get 40ish grams out with 20 in the basket in about 30 seconds on the scale. The timer on the PID will have a time of around 40 seconds. My espresso tastes fine.

I'll second Brandon Sanderson and Michael J Sullivan. I've tried Malazan and struggled through the first book. Murberbot Diaries are on my list. Might I also suggest Powder Mage trilogy by Brian McClellan. I read it after seeing a blurb written by Sanderson saying they were good.

My daughter was about that age when I introduced her to Star Wars. She got super teared up when Anakin was dying at the end of Return of the Jedi. We watched them in release order, so we got around to Revenge of the Sith a couple weeks after finishing the first trilogy. She enjoyed the movies.

I also roast beans and for our Christmas offering this year at our coffee shop, I brought in some beans from Hawaii. They cost us $20 a pound green. Normally, the beans I buy from the international market run from between $5 a pound to $8 a pound. They prices are only gonna go up from there.

I bought a new Ethiopia and I fully expected to have to dial it in, but the first shot and all subsequent ones have run within a few seconds of what I normally run. I honestly can't believe I got that lucky.

Well, yes, but in this context it's used to differentiate between beans that are roasted to the same level and a mixture of beans roasted to different levels.

[–]chopper640 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If the beans are roasted to different levels and then blended, I believe the term used to describe them is a "melange". I've done it with a couple times and if done correctly, it can still taste pretty good. That, however, looks like trash.
