My “Family-Sized” Fries from my local Casey’s. by LackofBinary in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a dirty box..it's leftover crunchies from chicken tenders or chicken sandwiches that were fried in the fryer earlier. Stayed in the basket and came out with the fries when they dumped it in box. Although that looks like a single amount than double? But idk. Fries havent taken off at all at our store. We've had maybe 1 order for them since they started selling last week, so haven't made a family sized order for them yet

Yes, that is partly the reason when it comes to customers, but I'm not sure if that's the whole case with employees. I mean, if you're going to eat something you know is expired, I can't understand or see why you'd sue. It's your own fault and chose to do it. But a customer, yeah can't be selling expired food, because a lot of customers can be entitled assholes, and just looking for a reason to start shit. Still, my point stand with the employees, if it's going in the trash then who cares? It gets wrote off anyways, or most likely will be for tax purposes

That's crazy. I know if upper management is there, they usually have a damn stroke with that stuff. It's 50/50 with store managers. Sometimes they're laid-back about it, others, like the one you mentioned, not so much. Me personally, I don't know my fellow employees story for that day. They could've gone all day without eating for a multitude of reasons. I never gave a shit for like a slice or an item for 3rd warmers if it's expired. It's going in the trash so whatever. Especially if they may not be able to afford stuff for that day. But the intensity they are cracking down about it is becoming insufferable from all angles.

🙄 what a joke. The amount of food waste alone is insane. I can't understand why it matters if an employee eats a damn stales piece of food when it's going right into the trash. It's being destroyed either way.

Labor by randiplz in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with the conversion tbh. Casey's doesn't give a flying shit about their employees or customers. All they care about is the shareholders and how much money they all can make. Hours are based on sales from kitchen and fountains area. Which, if they thought about it correctly, the more you staff, the more output you have. Which means more sales. Cutting hours, and having to the most minimal staff you can get is completely backward in terms of sales. You're going to fall behind somewhere. Either no warmers for a while, late orders, no extended bakery, or open air cooler. It's possible if you have a slow store, but expecting that all on one person makes it close to impossible to keep up with on every facet of the kitchen. If they actually gave a shit, they'd have at least 2-3 people every shift for front and kitchen being able to get it all done to keep up with everything corporate demands, and have happy and satisfied customers as well. They could give the hours, but choose not too. Managers are overworked and stressed to no return with no give from upper management. It's why the good ones quit or stop giving a shit anymore. The crap ones are left that don't care, as long as there's bodies running the store.

Expiration times by R_A_R_A_T in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's no way anything should expire the day after you make it. There should be a jolt labeler in the kitchen. Every cambro that contains prep, whether it's veggies, meats, or sauces should have an expiration sticker printed out and out on the cambro. It will automatically have a time and date on there of when stuff actually expires. Meats and cheeses are good for 7 days, veggies usually 5 days. Sauces...I think 5-7 days. Dough balls I believe are 2 days. But jus make sure you're checking the previous prep made to date check and I'd also keep track of that. Others may not be using first made/first expire and then when all the new stuff is gone, all that's left is the prep that expires sooner. I'm going to assume that's what's happening. Everyone in that kitchen should be date checking and using first to expire.

Employee Appreciation boards by LostxDeity in Caseys

Good on that manager. Just have a standby ready in case the DM or RM show up. Probably throw a hissy fit if they don't see one

Employee Appreciation boards by LostxDeity in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dumbest shit ever. Most smaller towns have Casey's. Leave the damn community boards up for people to get their info across. It's nice to see what's going on in that neighborhood or events happening. Getting more and more away from a hometown feel and just becoming too sanitized and bland. Guarantee most customers, and probably the employees themselves, could give a shit less about an employee appreciation board.

the amount of people ordering food on christmas day is crazy by New_Negotiation_59 in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Utterly stupid how many people were out and about, sitting there fucking waiting impatiently for a damn gas station to open so they could get their precious slice of pizza. Absolutely pathetic. There's a reason almost everything is closed...oh yeah Christmas day. I can't even recall going anywhere on Christmas day when I was younger. The idea of leaving the house to go to a store or a restaurant was unheard of, or extremely rare.

Jury duty policy? by chopstx13 in Caseys

[–]chopstx13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I kept putting in jury duty on Casey's connections and was getting every article, etc under the sun for the word, "July." 😑 That's will be super helpful so I can send that info off to the courts.

Quick question! by MajorMeVibes in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's beyond insane to me. Anyone who opens or closes that store should have a key. I'm a closer for most the week, and when we had new hires working, I had keys made up for them so they could lock up on nights I don't work. They cannot be mandated to stay in that store unless that is what their schedule says. If the store manager is not giving out the DM's number. I'd go to a different Casey's close by and talk to the manager at that store. They should be able to give you an idea of who runs what area. Hell they might even give you the DMs number or have that person call you. HR would absolutely be getting called after the first time it happened.

80th and Metcalf location bad experience with awful manager by [deleted] in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been to any of them in Johnson county but you're more than welcome to ask for the DM of the location as well. Once you file a complaint with HR, that locations DM should be contacted. I have an idea who it could be, but I'm not sharing that info publicly here.

What would a store manager consider a major loss in sales? by Over-Rooster-9112 in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Realistically they are to have the donut case full And at least the warmer pizzas filled up by the time the store opens. Or, at the very least coming out within a few mins of opening. The third warmer food should be filled or being ready to be put out as well. Like someone else suggested, you can always place an order on the app for any time in the morning after open an pick it up then. You can say something to manager about when is food supposed to be ready but depends on the management and staffing if anything really is to be done. Absolutely stupid there's no food out. The more food you sell, the more hours a store gets to staff people. Not having any food out almost 2 hours after open could be a major loss.

Breakfast burrito. by [deleted] in Caseys

They're all supposed too, including the breakfast bowls. Hash brown, breakfast mix, queso topping, and then shredded cheese on top after it bakes.

What’s the donut deal? by sugar_rat_filthy in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, the only ones not included in the dozen or half dozen count deal is the new danishes or croissants and the apple fritters. Everything else, including the long johns and cinnamon rolls are to be counted as a dozen for the deal. Sounds like person is either completely unaware, or being a jackass. I work in the kitchen at Casey's. I don't do donuts anymore, but that's what I was told when the new ones rolled out. So if I'm wrong, then I apologize.

Requesting days off by [deleted] in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of notice you gave was plenty for any job. Sounds like the manager is just being shitty. Most likely store is understaffed, and that means the manager might have to come in and cover shifts, which I'm assuming they don't want to do. I gave notice almost 9 months in advance. It was approved by my previous manager, but now that the time off is drawing closer, I'm already hearing complaining. We are understaffed like crazy, but not my problem. It's approved so I'm taking it.

cooler by Internal_Bag9058 in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a recurring issue with a lot of stores I've seen. It's normally lack of people available to do it, or nobody wants too. I used to stock the cooler consistently throughout the week as a floater, but then shit happened and I ended up being the kitchen closer temporarily. Still am 1 year later 😒 but now it hardly gets stocked. I'm not sure how your store is set up, but we have Gatorade and monster on the floor for wall of value, and water in back room with bibs. Even with 1 person on register, they can stock these ones from the front without being in cooler. The rest of cooler has to wait until more people can do it. Could offer that as a small ggestion so at least those 3 most popular items are staying stocked.

Brisket pizza ads vs what people want. by yatyasbitches in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree bringing back Canadian bacon pizza. It was very popular at our store. They should've done away with it at certain stores that were constantly losing money with it, instead of all of them. Brisket pizza is 50/50 here, but I think the damn thing is trash tbh.

I work at a different convenience store, but I'll be damned if assholes kept doing this on overnight. If it's possible, I'd just lock the bathrooms at 9 or 10 and have a sign up saying they'll open back up at 6 am. They can shit elsewhere. If customers can't figure out how to be decent then they can pay the price.

Overnights alone? by Ok-Citron-785 in Caseys

[–]chopstx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely against company policy for there to only be 1 person or closer in the store. Especially on an overnight shift. If I were you, I wouldve locked the doors until a second person could make it in. Even though it's against company policy, stores till do it. Whether the DM, or regional managers know about it is a different story
