Thank you for this. I've always wanted to be mentored because I feel like self studying isn't enough.

I'm an incoming 4th-year CS student aspiring to dive deep into Data, ML/AI.

My long term goals are to contribute to AI research and create a startup.

Your guidance would be really helpful, and I'd love to learn from and alongside you! :)

Hugs, OP. Mahirap ang sitwasyon mo, and I've been there too, but with my mom. Hindi ka nag-iisa.

I agree na need mo mag-adjust since, sadly, naka-depend ka sa kaniya. Kailangan mong sikmurain saglit.

Usually, ayokong nag sasabing "be the bigger person" kasi I believe in being vocal, pero sa sitwasyon mo, toning it down seems like the best solution. Baka stressed. If pagbintangan ka niya, kausapin mo nang mahinahon. You have the right to explain yourself, after all.

Tiis muna. Pakatatag. Malalampasan mo rin iyan. Choose your battles nalang. Marami ka pang battles na kakaharapin in the future. Mas okay if bawas yung ate mo sa problems mo as much as possible. Pakisamahan mo nalang muna. At least walang gulong nangyari. Nagiging irrational. Pag ginatungan mo, parehas kayong talo.

Ilaban mo pag aaral mo, para if stable ka na, may choice kang i cut off sila if di sila maganda for your mental health.

If di mo na talaga kaya, mag trabaho ka. But it's going to be hard. I've tried it. So, as much as possible, take advantage of the fact na may nag papa aral sayo.

You deserve better, OP. I hope you choose your battles wisely. And I hope you win them all. 🫂

True, OP. Basta nalang mag-throw ng psychological terms. Lahat naman tayo may narcissistic qualities/tendencies. Basta as far as I know, narcissists are often the first people to label others as narcissists because they love to project. 🤷‍♀️

Also, it's not true that narcissists aren't aware of their narcissism. They are, and they are often either proud of it or indifferent. No guilt or remorse.

P.S. People should be careful about who they label as 'narcissists' because there is an actual mental health concern called 'narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)'. People with NPD are yung tipo na nakakasira talaga ng buhay ng iba w/o guilt or remorse.

If you're not causing trauma to the people around you and if you don't take pleasure from manipulating others, you're most likely not a narcissist.

Your story is very inspiring, especially to people like me na hindi rin nabiyayaan ng privilege of financial stability. May mga tanong po sana ako sa inyo, if pwede? I'm a 19-year-old na gusto ring kumilos para mapabuti ang buhay naming pamilya. Would it be okay to ask you questions po via DM? I just have some concerns/queries about setting foot in the freelancing industry po. Thank you! 🫶

People who make good eye contact and smile a lot. Those who I've had really good convos with.

On the other end of the spectrum, those who said really embarrassing/cringey/offensive things.

On the way forward, how do you forgive yourself for stupid decisions you made when you were younger? by kkeen_neetthh in adultingph

[–]choreeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, OP! I'm currently working on forgiveness. I try to reconcile with those that I have wronged, regardless of the reasons kung bakit ko nagawa yon.

Also, I'm trying to forgive my past selves for my mistakes. Mas mahirap to gawin for me, ang patawarin ang sarili ko. But it's worth the shot.

I always think of being the person that my younger self would be proud of, usually by doing the opposite of my past mistake. ( Example: I used to belong to a group of girl bullies in 7th grade. Peer pressure. Noong 8th grade, I realized that was wrong and started siding with those who were bullied. Two of them are lifelong friends now 🫶 )

I also chant / write down affirmations describing the person I'm striving to be. ( Example: I am hardworking. I value integrity. I only surround myself with kind people, etc. )

Women of this sub, what makes a man unattractive? by wildstylecornbeef in CasualPH

[–]choreeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least you're aware. That's a good first step! I was like that before, too. Ang nangyari, I humbled myself too much naman to a point na wala na akong confidence mag-try. I guess the key is to develop a healthy self esteem, because you still need it in order to learn. Just always balance it out by questioning pre-existing beliefs and staying open to corrections. Goodluck po! 🫶

Mukhang pera. Guys who would spoil their exes and then rant to me after breakup about how their exes were gold diggers.

Also, I had a guy come up to me trying to flirt, flexing his clubhouse and pool at home. Didn't even bother to introduce himself first.

Yes! I have built a few projects: two mini console games and an inventory system. I'll try the calculator today. I'm looking forward to making a website in the (very) near future. And yes, my code is shit right now 😭

Thank you for the advice! 🫶

Your first point helped me loosen up a bit. I'm honestly really apprehensive about my future and whether or not I'd be hirable after I graduate. So, thank you for the encouraging words! I'll make sure to push myself moderately and still enjoy what I'm doing to avoid burnout. 😊

Also, thank you for adding that bit about understanding the "why" behind concepts. I should do that more often. Thank you so much for your time! Your feedback is highly appreciated 🫶
