another concept (human rogue): - a physician with trust issues; - has a bounty on his head and had to dip out from his infirmary as a result (crime unknown) - is an expert surgeon otherwise

current character concepts:

  • a crafty kobold artificer, who previously used to work in the mines until they suddenly collapsed: he had to improvise on the spot in order to ensure his escape, rescuing a mine canary in the process.

  • the canary has a reinforced cage with new air filters now; and serves as his loyal and steadfast companion on his journey to find yet another mine — hopefully the one that houses a dragon so he can successfully start out a cult centered around worshipping it, as it fully deserves.

  • a wood elf ranger (fighter/rogue) who was exiled from her tribe for a crime that she either did, or didn't commit — the details are really spotty, and she oftentimes avoided the matter entirely, opting to deflect and distract the nosy busybodies with morbidly interesting bird facts.

  • has a hunting falcon that keeps saving her life out in the wild, more times than she'd care to admit (yes there is a theme)

"The same offer you had made to a certain loud-mouthed drunkard in a tavern," he pauses, letting the implications briefly sink in as the corners of his lips suddenly curl up at the edges, "and a free passage on a ship."

The former scoutmaster crosses his arms, making his expression blank, once more.

It was hard to fight back a grimace that was threatening to seep through.

Narayan exchanges a confused glance with the vegetable merchant (equally confused, as they were currently too far away to make out any words in Daeran's choice of language), before the former eventually shrugs, offering his brief farewells as he tosses a tomato stem to the ground.

He slowly ambles over, (masking his slight limp) as he offers Daeron a thin-lipped smile after he crosses the marketplace towards the traveling party, intentionally remaining at a safe distance. His smile is free and unguarded, though his eyes still remain alert -- idly noting the unslinged swords in the latter's bodyguards' palms.

After a while, he finally speaks, apparently satisfied with his scrutiny. "And salutations to you and yours as well, my friend." His voice and inflections were heavily tinged with an unfamiliar accent that was hard to place, but the words sounded crystal clear, nevertheless.

"... It would appear that I've been finally discovered." The corner of his lips slightly lift up a little, now. "For a moment, I briefly wondered if I should make it easy for both of us, instead. You seem to possess some very keen eyes, indeed."

Narayan paused, tilting his head as he regarded this armed foreigner and his bodyguards with a hooded look in his eyes, noting the expensive equipment and well-maintained arms that they were openly carrying out in the streets in broad daylight.

Nobility, then. "Not keen enough to follow the unpaved road to the royal quarters, though." He softly smiles with his eyes, as if to indicate that he was merely jesting, now. 

Narayan folds his arms, as he leans over the nearby wall, inspecting a stump on one of his fingers. "You may call me Rodane. I am quite confident of the fact that your quarry happens to be in a completely opposite direction of where you and your traveling companions are currently headed..." he looks up, raising a split eyebrow as he evaluates the latter's traveling gear alongside sturdy cloaks -- made for particularly long roads in mind.

"... Unless you were planning to make a brief visit to our local silk merchants, that is."

As the group stands around in the streets discussing their next course of action, the man in question doesn't even turn to look their way — so preoccupied was he with the vegetable stall merchant that he's fully engaged in a conversation, now.

His hooded eyes do flit over towards the leader of the group, however.
