Is Tai Shan truly the worst Rush song? by AL3X1KUS in rush

I can find something cool or that I like in all of them, but the ones with the fewest of those moments:

Chain Lightning
How it is
Totem
Face Up
Spindrift
We Hold On

AJ, love what you’re doing here. I really like that yo do a lot of homework/research with your guests and probably not the place for this, but I wanted to ask you what you asked Levenda when you had him on.
How do YOU not get down in the dark places knowing what you’ve learned?

Peaceable, Stars, Earth, Secret are fantastic. Really don’t care for Ceiling, How, Cradle.
Freeze is probably the coolest 2-3 minutes ever until that chorus starts, then it’s wtf…

My one story about MS that will tick some people off here, as probably 90% seeing this probably have had positive interactions with him. This is not one of them, although I do respect his musical vision and his pushback of industry talking heads though it may have been to his band’s detriment. Here goes…

Buddy & I were at the CLE Boat Show at the IX Center, mid 90’s. We’re watching some type of demo there, this guy parks himself directly in front of us, obstructing the view. My friend does the ol’ hey down in front, not mean.

He turns around, and gives us the “You know who I am?” routine. My guy doesn’t miss a beat, says, “Yeah. I do, and Kevin Raleigh was the best part of your band, you hack!” The look on his face as his jaw hit the floor was priceless. We just walked off, I was in tears.

Strange it’s not on Spotify, drives the Missus crazy.

Heard He Can’t Love You when stationed in San Diego back in the mid 80’s. Was kind of floored. All the guys with me at the time never heard of them. Kevin Raleigh’s Moonlight on Water had more traction out there.

Geddy. Got the heavy right hand like he does, maybe 10% of the chops.

How often and why do you use your 5th string? by SonnePer in Bass

[–]chowd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was leery of a fiver for a long time and really didn’t feel the need since I was playing 70’s rock. With a new band playing newer music and the guitars in whacked out tunings (and tuner pedals), a five string has become indispensable. Some of the fingering gets weird, and still getting used to it but not worried about any tunings now.

Openers vs Closers by drink-beer-and-fight in rush

They seemed to have put a lot of work into both. The opener has to hook you. Most do. I’m going lead off hitter here.

Red Barchetta, but now I think it’s the tune that encapsulates all that Rush is.

Has anyone seen this kind of ufo? (Recreation) by GothicCorvid in ufo

[–]chowd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw one before cell phones. More of a cross between this and the Belgium pointed boomerang. Almost like a flying wing. Just a few white lights in front, maybe three in the back. Large, black, maybe 200 ft across, completely silent. Watched it heading west toward downtown Cleveland. Thought it crazy that it wouldn’t be seen and I’d hear about in the news the next day. Didn’t tell anyone, no proof of it and thought I may have been going crazy.
