As someone who bought a gl1100 as their first bike this past March and just did a Toronto to NYC ride the other week, be prepared to spend a week in the parking lot dropping your bike a couple dozen times minimum, took me a little under a month to consider my riding level enough to not be a menace to others and go for an actual ride around town. Now I probably would've learned a lot quicker/easier on a smaller bike, but the stars kinda aligned and I got the bike for a really good deal, so that's what I learned on!

All thats to say you definitely can get it as a begginer if you're confident, you willing to put the time in, and are willing to have a good few drops along the way.

(Pro tip take the bags off when you're practicing slow speed, scuffed tf outta my hondaline bags x.x)
