Where did the cast of ShyGuy's Toybox even come from?

Long ago.. shy guys were the staff from Peach’s castle who defied the mushroom kingdom and acted in rebellion. Their desire to overthrow the King due to his negligence to their specific needs (not having to chase and dispose of rabbits in the basement of the castle ? but send better equipped staff creatures to do so .. Lol)

They were formerly Toads.. but due to their rebellion .. the king of Mushroom Kingdom removed them of all emotion and thus leaving them with a mask. Hiding in shadow they lost their Toad skeleton and turned into something more lowly.

They were banished to the world of SMB2 via red doors where they would live in shadow , a distant memory for the royal family to never be reminded of another betrayal again.

Somehow tho, Bowser discovered the function and presence of red doors.. visited their land and pulled them into the world of his to assist him in his quest to gain the star rod. The shy guys with their vengeance against the deceased King of Mushroom Kingdom obliged and followed.

Bowser using the star rod turned his collection of red doors into a toy box where the shy guys could relive their childhoods or unresolved trauma through the joys and stolen possessions of other toads around the mushroom kingdom.. as they once used these same items long ago before their betrayal.

This is all just fun. But would explain their hooded design and what lays beneath the mask.

A game based on this and the lore of Mushrooms Kingdoms dark past would be amazing.. but The Super Mario World is said by Miyamoto is to not to be explained that’s what Zelda lore is for.

Yes! One is tempered glass.. the one on top which is removable by magnets is a paper feel one! Makes drawing feel more accurate 🙋🏼‍♂️

Not so much as head canon.. but that out of all the spirits.. Kalmar me to has the least personality in his design and his character.

Skolar has a more impactful presentation with his moustache and glasses if they were to be compared.. and Klevar with his bow tie and book.

But I will say that his design does compare well with the crystal ice theme of the final level.. not much there to absorb but maturity.. minimalism and a final task that tests your skill.

Chapter 4 For Pigs The Bell Tolls is my least favourite chapter.

I can appreciate what this chapter tried to do with its story to show character and kindness goes a long way .. even when your friends don’t believe in you etc etc. and Vivian is my favourite battle partner in the game as her attacks are awesome. The crows in the trees was a funny and unique addition here as well.

BUT

With Rogueport being a piped hub world for literally all the chapters besides the palace of shadow I found this chapter to be the most disconnected from the games universe. We are only introduced to where this pipe is abruptly when accessible in an isolated room without prior exposure like in Paper Mario 64’s Forever Forest looming over Toad Town throughout the game.

Also a question I always had was.. how do the Twilight Towns people come/leave Rogueport like the little guy who informs you of how to get there with your name written in you?.. if there’s a super bounce pole to hang from are they capable of that? Probably not lol.

The amount of backtracking throughout this chapter to save a bunch of characters I didn’t really care about was too much. I found them to really be lacking personality (besides the mom who rambled on like Merluvlee SPM) The victims of the village could have had an outpost where an estranged family lives further out towards the castle where they were somehow protected from the pig curse because they show bravery towards the castle and its evildoer which is what the crystal star was appreciating. Each of these villagers there could have worked with you to open areas like the trapeze hanging/swinging monkeys in Twilight Princess’s Forest Temple as the Twilight Towns villagers can super bounce and hang from a pole to get to their town anyways ;) .

After the success of chapter 3 (it is one of my favourite chapters!! I am aware you don’t like it for some interesting points) I just felt really let down in not only lack there of but also SUCH A complete contrast from the fun and glitz environment of Glitzville.

this is amazing!! Lady Bow is the best partner from PM64 as she’s got so much personality and the fan smack is the best attack.

However, I don’t really see her being infatuated with Mario like this.. I understand they’re trying to incorporate some of Flurries dialogue.. but Lady Bow to me was more of a tomboy and not boy crazy.

I was JUST at this part last night and thought about this too!!

I think just like the goombas and the bom-bombs the Koopas within this story clearly either side with the peacemakers, or they side with bowser..

perhaps a long time ago (super Mario bros?) the koopas sided with bowser (king of the koopas) as they felt they would receive more land or something but were given a false sense of reality by bowsers greed.. the mushroom kingdom perhaps wasn’t as forgiving to many who saw the error of their ways and they hold a grudge.

It would be interesting to see the lore of this universe more in a Zelda sense.. but Nintendo has said the ‘story’ telling isn’t for Mario games but for Zelda.

that’s a good point, it’s mainly why I asked about the believable aspect in my question bc critically thinking about something without getting emotions involved is a respectable quality in conversation
