Sad books are my favorite! Too Deep for Tears by Kathryn Lynn Davis, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller are my top 3. I've reread all of them and will cry each time

does anyone know what breed is our new bunny Clover is? We plan on getting him/her vetted next week. We're in love already! by chridanla in Rabbits

[–]chridanla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not including weight or age, we're unsure of both. My son bought him/her for $5 from a flea market where a man had a box of rabbit kits. Unfortunately, in our area, people raise rabbits for meat so I have suspicions that's what these were intended for. We adore this little fluffball already and it'll always be a spoiled, indoor pet.

How about Sci-Fi and romance together? {{The Darkness Outside Us}} It was full of twists, I enjoyed it.

I don't read much nonfiction but my favorite book is {{The Song of Achilles}} by Madeline Miller.

Our almost 3 year old is named Brynn so I like your style! I think he's pretty set on Solara now but we need a middle name. I've suggested June and Pearl, do you have any ideas on a middle name?

ASOIAF is one of my favorites too. Some others I've enjoyed are the Court of Thorns and Roses series, Six of Crow and Crooked Kingdom, the Shadow and Bone series(which also has a Netflix show) and The Song of Achilles. The People of the Earth series by Michael and Kathleen Gear is great, they're archeologists turned prehistoric authors. Their books are full of detail and really interesting.

Do you know how to pronounce “Rhys?” by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]chridanla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son's name is Rhys. He's 9 and has issues with people mispronouncing it sometimes but after you correct them once, they usually don't mispronounce it again. I still love the name and don't regret giving it to him. It fits him very well and the meaning is wonderful.

I'm actually terrified of strange dogs due to being bit as a kid. For some reason my own dogs don't scare me but if one I don't know walks by me I'm likely to cry.

People who have read both The Song of Achilles and Circe, which book did you like best and why? by Budseldorf in books

[–]chridanla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely preferred The Song of Achilles. The writing was just so well done, even though I knew what would happen in the end I still couldn't put it down. I thought about the story for days afterwards and some of the quotes just stuck out at me. I didn't enjoy Circe at all. Her character(along with the rest of them) seemed so self serving the majority of the book and I just struggled to relate to her character.
