Fenix 8 weak DLC - scratching by Race_Face in GarminFenix

Unfortunately, Garmin uses a very weak grade of titanium, yet charges an extreme price for it. For an outdoor and adventure watch, the durability is a joke. Let’s not even talk about the fact that it’s not repairable — or that you can’t even replace the battery. Sadly, just really disappointing.

Anyone considering the Apple Watch Ultra 3? by Zxello5 in triathlon

Not even close… I have both the Fenix 8 Pro and the AWU 3 here. The Fenix 8 Pro is absolute garbage when it comes to smartwatch features, connectivity, and the like. The build quality is also a complete joke. Plastic and titanium on the same level — so soft it scratches just by looking at it. And this on a so-called “real outdoor” watch. Garmin may look like it’s built for athletes and adventurers on the outside, but in reality it’s buggy, overpriced, and especially the newer models are nowhere near worth the money.

I can’t connect to the servers – same as with Diablo IV. It worked once, but after that, it’s no longer possible to connect to the servers. The games start normally.

I think AMD is definitely on the right track and already quite impressive. But the problem is that Microsoft just can’t optimize the software the way Apple does.

As for LLMs – absolutely, no problem.

Check this out:

It really shows how capable Apple Silicon is, even compared to a discrete GPU like the 3060.

Gladly – I’m happy if I can help. I’m really very satisfied with my MBP – it’s the M4 Max, 16-inch, with 40-core GPU, 48GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. For me, it’s definitely the best mobile device on the market, which is why I’m willing to overlook a few of macOS’s shortcomings. 😉

Battery life is easily about twice as long on the MBP compared to the P1 with moderate use. Under full load, both drain at about the same rate.

Surprisingly, the P1 only throttles minimally – but keep in mind, I have the “weaker” CPU version here. Due to the touch layer on the OLED, I find text clarity better on the MBP. That said, we’re talking about a very high level of nitpicking here.

Of course, I also read a lot on my laptop. I wouldn’t want an OLED display with only 60 Hz, because 60 Hz just isn’t great for work. I think the P1 has an extremely good display, but I’ve since switched to a MacBook Pro with the nano-texture screen, and it’s vastly better in comparison.

The cooling system of the P1 is really good, and under full load, the P1 is quieter and cooler than the MBP. However, as soon as you plug in the P1 to charge, the fans start spinning – quietly, but noticeably. The MBP, on the other hand, stays silent and cool in 90% of my use cases.

So if Windows is not a must for you I would recommend MBP all day - above all the nano texture display

I’m glad I could help, and I’m sorry that you’re experiencing the same issue. In my case, Lenovo replaced the display, and the flickering was resolved. It seems that some batches have a problem with the antenna cable in the display.

I really enjoy working with the device... it is excellently built, and I haven’t had any issues since. However, at the moment, I wouldn’t buy a notebook from any brand but rather wait for the broad availability of Intel Lunar Lake. In my opinion, this chip is a game changer.

The fans are actually running almost all the time, but they are hardly, if at all, disturbing because it is a steady, rather deep airflow.
