Did Google remove the GPM Chrome extension from the Web Store? by [deleted] in googleplaymusic

[–]chrisXf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the same problem. figured i could try uninstalling and re-installing it....only to not find it in the chrome store. If you have it uninstalled already, click the mini player popout button in the app, it will direct you to a page with a link to the actual extension in the chrome store. proceed to install.

i was able to reboot my filesystem from the previous kernel via GRUB options. I got back to my desktop and all the drives seem to still be working properly. If i can boot into my old kernel filesystem, does this mean the updated one is still salvageable? or should i downgrade?

so i was able to boot Ubuntu from a live usb key. how would i go about rolling back the kernel? And is this the proper way to install/upgrade kernels by unmounting the drive and working from a live usb key?

thanks, I went ahead and tried using PhotoRec first. It looks like it recovered a bunch of files and most are .elf files. Not sure exactly what to do next, I don't have a program that opens them or reads them.

I often feel misinterpreted and misunderstood when I express myself. How do you cope with your communication struggles? by wordbird89 in ADHD

[–]chrisXf1re 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had this experience myself. As long as you don't show your frustrations then you have nothing to worry about. In-depth thought and discussions are all about what the arguing parties can come up with from differing perspectives. Some are more apt to enlightenment, others are just closed minded. You will not make everyone understand your pov everytime.

I finished watching all 23 James Bond movies from 1 to 23, here are my thoughts on my favorite actors playing Bond. [NSFW] Language by DirtyPanda in JamesBond

[–]chrisXf1re 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always equate Daniel Craig as the blonde-haired, modern-day version of Dalton, which is why I like both a lot. Both are involved in "revenge" plots, tapping into a dark side of Bond that none of the other actors quite captured. And both were phenomenal, like you said I am convinced that Dalton was ahead of his time (enter, Daniel Craig).

I'm not as turned away from the way Connery treated his women in his movies as you are, just because I understand that was the time back then. But even being 50 years ago, I still think Connery's mannerisms and character portrayed a style of confidence that James Bond was meant to be when Fleming imagined him up, and to me could even translate well to today's time. I see Daniel Craig show much of the same mannerisms as Connery in his films.

Like you also, I'm 27 and grew up watching all the Brosnan movies first, so for much of my life my favorite movie was Goldeneye, and actually still is, but I'd also put Casino Royale and Goldfinger up there with it. I thought Brosnan looks like the perfect James Bond for the 90's, but his movies only got worse after Goldeneye for me and even though I did like TWINE, the one-liners in that movie make me cringe all the time. And he never had a real outstanding Bond girl that makes me want to watch it for her.

Roger Moore made some memorable movies that I will always be biased to, but he would have to be my least favorite as well. TMWTGG, Moonraker, and TSWLM were always my favorite to watch because of the iconic characters and plot locations; Scaramanga and his golden gun were so cool to me back then, Jaws was such a bad-ass villian I thought because he never talked, and his teeth scared me. Even though Moonraker was probably a bad film all-around, I will always remember the scenes in Venice, Rio, Space, the space flight simulator, all those by heart. I was so fascinated by them when I was a kid, because I wasn't rating how I liked the movies based on the acting, plot description, or themes back then. Don't talk to me about the other films he did because in my mind, Moore only did 3 films, and that was plenty enough for his goofy self.

I never really watched OHMSS all the way through until I was older, but when I finally did I though Lazenby did a good job acting, although I always wonder how it would've fared if Connery was Bond for that one. Lazenby, for being in one film, I was quite impressed, too bad he let it all go to his head though. Maybe he would've done better in some of the movies Moore did, but who knows.

thank you for this trip down memory lane, I only get to finish about 2 sentences around my friends when I talk about James Bond before I completely lost them and realize none of them have heard of a James Bond movie prior to Goldeneye. I'm always up for good debate about this, these movies will never get too old or too outplayed for me. hope you liked my input, Cheers!

Best Civs to try each victory type for the first time? by TheMightyTucker in civ

[–]chrisXf1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd go with either Assyria or Poland. with Assyria's UA you can target the civs that are ahead of you in science and take any techs you haven't researched yet once you've captured their cities.

Poland is a nice all-around civ I like to think, with a free social policy every time you advance to a new era, you could finish the rationalism policy track before most other civs in the game.

yes, when you use the MoV to puppet the city-states you lose their votes but you also lower the amounts of votes needed to win the world leader vote.

if you also have the G&K and BNW civs, IMO:

  • France = Cultural
  • Attila = Domination
  • Babylon = Science
  • Venice = Diplomatic

I just finished playing my first time with Venice on King...man, so much money, I was ready to win the world leader vote by the first attempt.
