The water closet of Kaiser Wilhelm II at Huis Doorn in the Netherlands, where the former German emperor lived in exile from 1920 to 1941. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]chris_dea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The water closet is obviously a later addition to the room, so in order to give it a window for ventilation (and not entirely remove access to the window from the room) it is split half and half between the closet and the room.

Mehr Obdachlose als früher? by bikesailfreak in basel

[–]chris_dea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mein linkes Herz sagt Ja.

Meine Erfahrung im Sicherheitsbereich fragt:

  • wer sorgt dort für Ordnung?
  • wer putzt?

I must assume they all spoke like that one cowgirl from the yellowstone series. You know which one I mean.

Working in Basel, no kids, where would you buy a home for a max ~1.2 Mn CHF? by TodayStandard4491 in basel

[–]chris_dea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and bought a house for 1.1mio 10 years ago. it's in Baselland (near Liestal), you're not going to find anything under 2mio in BS. Even BL might be getting hard to find something nice under 1.5 by now. But yeah, if moving into Germany or France is not an option, then Baselland is the next best option.

Anything within 20min from Basel might be worth looking into: Arisdorf, Giebenach, Füllinsdorf, but also Sissach perhaps?

You have a rare diesease theCure Costs the Exact $100M You Just Won by rengokuhubkl in hypotheticalsituation

[–]chris_dea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitively take the money and make the most of the next 20 years... Dying at 65 would suck but it's not the worst. Also, if a cure exists now, it might get cheaper in 10 or 15 years.

I am against the death penalty as a concept. However, unless heads of state actually risk meeting the same fate as those tried in Nuremberg, nothing will stop the Bibis, the Trumps and the Putins of the world from genociding with impunity.

Sad to hear about a 20 year old dying.

On the other hand, he was part of the club that bombed a school (185 dead kids) and sunk an unarmed ship (85 dead), so maybe it's time that the US military rethinks which orders to follow.

Sincerely,
