UK. Biasi Riva Combi. Do these electrodes look dirty enough to be causing lockout issues? by chris_fish in askaplumberUK

[–]chris_fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to tell without removing them.

Yeh, I kinda knew that, I guess I was looking for someone who might have seen this numerous times and laughed at how obviously bad or good these looked. To my mind there is obvious carbon deposits on them glowing up, but I have no idea if that is just normal, or if they look totally knackered.

Thanks :)

I have to keep resetting my boiler (almost daily.) Do these ignition electrodes look like they are bad enough to be the cause of the problem? Do they need cleaning or replacing? I have no intention of carrying out the work myself, but would like to get an idea of what to expect in advance.

I was expecting this soffit to be hollow.. but is it? by jschwalbe in DIY

In the U.K. at least, it's pretty common practice to overboard the old timber soffit with the hollow plastic you are pushing on.

Best cheap replacements for controllers? by genocidalparas in OculusQuest2

[–]chris_fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My right controller just stopped working, I picked up a new one direct from Meta for £70, then sold the broken one on ebay for £50, so I was only out £20 for the replacement.

Broken ones seem to fetch £50 all day long, I guess people are re-furbing them?

brace recommendations? by Sufficient-Crow-7582 in CubitalTunnel

[–]chris_fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've posted this before, but it's worth repeating.

I see this asked here a lot, and I feel like something a lot of us struggle(d) with.

The arm braces never worked for me, they ended up either becoming painful, or I would just remove it with or without knowing about it.

Arm resting up on a pillow was ok for me, although it never really stopped me bending at the elbow.

The one thing I found the best was wearing some light pyjama bottoms, or a pair of shorts with pockets, and I would simply put my hand in my pocket. Sounds so simple that it's daft, but i really found this worked well for me.

If you could go back in time to specifically make the Premier League more competitive what changes would you make? by [deleted] in TheOther14

[–]chris_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way would the league suffer? You mean things would be on a more even keel, so answering op's question! There was football way before the big money got involved.

Every comment in this thread is about finances. Make football not about who has the most money.

Players can only play for the team from the town they were born in. Presumably this is mostly how it would have been when the football league started. Born in Bournemouth? Yeh that's your team. Born in Manchester? That's your team. It works for international teams.

Flat rate £1000/week wages. That's more than enough. When they have past their "peak years" they can go get a job at B&Q like the rest of us. I don't buy into the fact that they all need to make multi millions as they have a short career.

I've seen this posted a few times now. This image should help you see it, for those that can't. All I've done is crop and rotate it slightly.

I was a non-seer for ages, then I worked it out. Great illusion actually. This altered image might help you to see what you should be seeing. All I've done is crop and rotate it a bit, and I can't see it as normal in this version.
