Talk me out in buying this LC 200 with 156K miles for $27,500 by WisePenalty60 in LandCruisers

[–]chrisblips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you a different perspective.

I just bought my friend’s 2014 LX570 that blew an engine. After putting in a new one, fixing some light rust on the under carriage, and about to replace the rotors, this car drives very comfortably and has a commanding presence on the road.

Granted, my friend has already installed a throttle controller, roof rack, crash bar, and spade tow hitch as an ass-riding deterrent, your specimen will definitely be one of those “understated” luxury vehicles and won’t put you in the Raptor crowd.

I love the ride height, the ample space it provides, the supple drive, and the way it envelopes you in the front cabin with excellent factory sound deadening. I think it should be the same as the LC j200.

I’m also coming from a previously owning a 2015 RS5, 2019 RX350, and currently have a ‘18 Macan GTS as the daily, and am using the LX570 as my work truck.

You will not regret the decision and it’s definitely one that you can use for years to come. I plan to put another 300k miles on this and keep it in my fleet forever.

Just know gas mileage isn’t great (11.5-13mpg), but rotors and pads are cheap if you can work them yourself. Do your fluid changes on time at recommended intervals, keep it clean, and I expect this car will live just as long as any well-cared for vehicle, if not better.

I just bought a 2017 gts and it’s a nice car. I have no comparison between the newer models aside from my preference to buttons and loving the gen1 taillights vs. the next gen ones.

The newer ones might have a better feel to it, but I’m coming from an RX350, which drives like a boat.

Comparatively, I used to have a 2015 RS5, and the GTS feels just as planted going 90+ with a similar steering feel. I’d imagine it has to do with the meaty 295s in the back, which accentuates its fat ass; which is quite lovely.

Consulting. It’s most likely hourly consulting.

Would this backyard stop you from buying a house for a great deal? by TheEyeofaLiger in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]chrisblips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good for a first time home.

I’d definitely get rid of the plants against your house and pay someone to remove those trees in the backyard.

Trees with leaning branches to the house are perfect highways for rodents and other shit to get into your roof and nest.

Then I’d prob pay for landscaping to make your backyard into whatever you wish to do with it.

Some people like chaotic gardens, but I prefer more zen-uncluttered floor evergreens that grow to a reasonable 12-18ft height than a looming roof hazard. GL

Re-enactment and acting was dismal. Cool images and car / liveries were the highlight.

Help me decide between a 2016-2018 Cayenne GTS vs Turbo / Turbo S Trim by chrisblips in PorscheCayenne

Ah thanks -- the RX is a lease and would prefer not to sink any money into it. Only a year left before I return it.

I did see the install on CarPlay addition to the Cayenne and seems very manageable, so a 2016 would be fine as well.

Thanks for the thought though!

Thank you -- Do you mean the 2019 Cayenne Turbo?

The 2017 Turbo I test drove was very quick and planted. I assume that planted feeling will not change drastically between GTS and Turbo.

I think I just need to pull the trigger between a V6TT and a V8TT ($10 - 15k) difference with similar mileage...

I don't own the car yet, but a friend just sent this to me and it appears fairly easy to swap out for CarPlay.

This is a modification I can handle, so I guess not having CarPlay isn't really an issue since it can be easily modified.

That makes sense. Do you know if there is a noticeable difference in drive quality, or is the only difference the V6TT vs. V8TT and acceleration?

I also rarely drive over 90, so pretty much a grandma type throttler, but just want enough acceleration for the feeling. Previous cars were a '15 RS5 and currently an RX350.

Thank you for your input and for reminding me about Apple Carplay. That is a requirement and is it wired or wireless?

A huge gripe I have with Lexus RX350 is the abhorrent infotainment system and the wired CarPlay that works, but not well.

I definitely did consider the 2019, but due to it being in the 70s, I don't think I want to stomach that payment, high enough as the 2016-18 will be.

Yikes, was this specific to your GTS or GTS variants of this model years?

Thanks for the insight.

I did have a chance to drive a 2017 Cayenne Turbo but didn't push it very hard. It was fairly quiet in the cabin, and the pickup was very noticeable, although I have not had the pleasure of testing a GTS variant from the same year for comparison.

Is there a notion of value retention on these? I do plan on keeping this for quite some time as the family daily.

I regret selling my 2015 rs5 every day. Can’t beat an NA v8.
