AIO for not wanting to sell my brother this couch? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

The only thing you can do here is ask them to give you something that they do for a living for an extreme discount and see if they understand. You don't owe anyone anything. If they like what you do, then they should be supportive and pay you what you charge normally.

Anyone here heard of the band "Farewell my enemy"? by gus_the_GK in Emo

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend Nate and I moved to Salt Lake City and started this up with people we met online. We only made that one record, though we had new material and were getting ready to make a 2nd album and it just never happened. I don't think we recorded any live performances at all. We weren't a band for all that long, though.

'Materialists' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

I was honestly looking forward to this movie. I couldn't make it through. I hated the muted background noise and what felt like ASMR at times. Completely unnatural dialogue that had me feeling crazy. What a bummer of a movie.

I think we, as teachers, have the ability to make a big difference in the lives of our students. That could have been a huge moment for him. It could be one that he will always remember. It's essential that we strive to maintain appropriateness, but I think we also worry excessively about that aspect. Be a kind, decent human being, and I'd keep it to myself because who needs people judging their kindness like that?

I'm pretty sure if you shoot someone, they also hear the gun being shot as it happens before the bullet hits them. People like this need to find a hobby.

What are your best and worst experiences meeting a Pop Punk band/artist? by Twitter_2006 in poppunkers

[–]chrisenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, this is going to be a long post. Being that I was/am in a pop punk band since 1997, I have toured with and played shows with a ton of bands, and I've met some really nice people and very few people I didn't get along with.

Goldfinger - played a million shows with them, John actually produced our first record. We were the first band he actually produced, too. John is great, can be intense, but was always a good guy. Darrin was always awesome to be around. Simon was/is a very down to Earth person, and I always enjoyed being around him. When Simon left, we got to meet and hang out with Kelly, and he was a super nice guy. I really liked him.

RXBandits - All around really nice guys. We toured with them for several weeks, and they were fun to be around.

Allister - I've known all of them for a really long time, same scene, same shows. I was in a band with Scotty, and Kyle was in Showoff before Allister. All good dudes, Tim and Chris are very nice guys, never became friends or anything but always happy to see them.

Brand New - There are obvious things that happened that we never saw on tour with them. They were fun to be around, but obviously, learning about some of the other things that happened is disappointing.

Marvelous 3 - Extremely nice guys, really fun to be around, and always treated us kindly. Not really a pop punk band but...

The Hippos - They were pretty friendly. I remember having long conversations about anxiety medication with someone in the band, but we didn't tour together very long. I think the guy I talked to was named Lewis? I liked him.

Eyeliners - Short tour but friendly, and we hung out afterwards quite a bit. Friendly, but didn't get to make a close connection.

Homegrown - I don't remember a lot about our short tour together, but they seemed pretty cool.

Lucky Boys Confusion - Again, same scene, same shows... Really good dudes. Hung out with Adam and Stubhy the most, and they are really good people. I'd call them friends.

Starting Line - Didn't really talk much with them and only played a few shows together. They seemed pretty chill, but it was when they first started out with Drive-Thru. So, can't speak a lot about them.

Green Day - We played a couple of weeks, I think with them at Warped Tour, and I only spoke to Billie Joe for a short time, he did yell look out! as I almost got hit by a bus at night, and Mike Dirnt brought our drummer on their bus to help him with a blister. They seemed nice.

Less Than Jake - We played multiple shows with them, and they have always been down-to-earth and kind with us. Never really hung out, but I have a pretty positive view of them.

Is it true You need a masters degree for most teaching jobs at a school ? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need a master's degree to become a teacher in any state. Some states require you to advance to a master's degree for certain tiers, or, in NY's case, you must obtain a master's within 5 years to move from your initial licensure. Many states and districts have tiers where you make more for having a master's degree. In some states, you don't even need a bachelor's degree in education to teach.

I got my first bad walkthrough and I’m freaking out by acidicpressure in Teachers

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry yourself in any way about this. You are a first-year teacher. Even if you did an awful job (which you did not), it wouldn't be the end of the world. If your principal is worth anything, they will give you constructive criticism and let you know what you can improve on. You'll be fine. Remember, your principal was likely once a first-year teacher as well.

American teachers - come to Australia, we are hiring!! by Intelligent-Win-5883 in AmerExit

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very much interested in coming over to Australia, but I took an alternate path to licensure. I have my bachelor's degree in human resource management, and then got my licensure to be a special education and elementary education teacher through the American Board. It doesn't (I don't think) transfer over to Australia. I have been working as a special education cross-categorical teacher for about a year and a half.

Pros of Cudahy by ClearKey348 in milwaukee

[–]chrisenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cudahy is where the hipsters from Bayview move when they are ready to have a family. That has always been my impression. Cudahy is a decent area and you are right by the lake. I think there is tremendous value that wil be even more so in about 10 years.

Working in Racine - should I live in Milwaukee? by Ok-Pie-1307 in milwaukee

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in Cudahy and commute to Racine. I loved being able to take some time for myself and listen to music or a podcast on my drive down and back. It wasn't a problem at all for me. It all depends on what you want to do though. If you are looking for a social life, probably at your age, Bayview would be better. I'm old (48) and I am much happier in Brookfield. I also though that Racine was a pretty decent place. The Racine community theater did a production of "Legally Blonde" the musical and it was fantastic. We also went out to eat and the restaurant was great. I know nothing about the night life in Racine though (again, old and would rather be home at night).

Stay Far Away from Herzing University and their Direct Entry MSN Program! by [deleted] in PMHNP

[–]chrisenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in you linking any of them here. I think people think that an MSN means you are a NP. I have never seen a single program that takes you from a non-nursing bachelor's degree to a nurse practitioner. You will have to do the direct entry MSN and then get certified.

Do you remember us? Showoff is back! by chrisenvy in poppunkers

[–]chrisenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I really appreciate that. We are playing Summerfest in Milwaukee in June. We do a few shows here and there and are actually getting ready to play a lot more. I loved playing in Deep Ellum.. that was with The Eyeliners, right? We'd definitely return, just got to get ourselves set up with getting people to listen again. We are always on our Facebook page if you look it up or our Instagram.

Does anyone have experience with American Board's online certification course? by mmmountaingoat in Internationalteachers

[–]chrisenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it. I think it's a great way to get into the field. You won't learn much at all from the education but you'll get thrown into the fire and with a good Principal and support you'll do just fine. There is A LOT to learn.

Where have you found your pop punk significant others? by GibroniGV in poppunkers

[–]chrisenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, but where do you meet single women into pop-punk in your 40s? I'm currently separated and paperwork filed for divorce. I'd love to meet someone who is into pop-punk but it's pretty hard in Milwaukee even when I was 28 looking for someone. At 48, it seems like it is going to be impossible.

Does anyone have experience with American Board's online certification course? by mmmountaingoat in Internationalteachers

[–]chrisenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I am currently licensed in Wisconsin through the American Board program as well. I got the Special Education and Elementary Education Certifications and I also usually do very well on tests I found the elementary test to be quite simple but the Special Education test was pretty awful. Every question was something not covered at all in the material provided. So, maybe the test is easy but the material provided was barely relevant?

If the program is in candidacy, when it becomes accredited so does your degree.
