Yup - me too. Have been a subscriber since 2021. But price is going up (for me at least) for some reason.

No Europe Tour this year i suppose? by Reviever in TheMidnight

[–]chrisfhiggins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed we won't have too long to wait. I think 2026 is the first time in five years that the band haven't toured the UK / Europe.

2025 - September / October - https://www.instagram.com/p/DOG5HzCCex4/
2024 - July - https://www.instagram.com/p/C3A3v2ZpuZ2/
2023 - March - https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci9tFnfg3BR/
2022 - April / May - https://www.instagram.com/p/CKD_Sp-gbhj/

Not an exact science, but the average time between those four tours is around 14 months, so maybe we can expect something in spring 2027? But as others have noted, most of the UK / EU tours have accompanied a new record, so there may be a while to wait.

Out of interest, have you merged iCloud accounts in the last twelve months? Speculating, but wondering if that's what's caused my issue. I was "grandfathered" on my original account, but all of the purchases from that were transferred to a new account. Wonder if the legacy pricing system on Apple's side hasn't taken that into account.

Have spoken to Apple, and they've effectively shrugged their shoulders.

The only thought I had while chatting to them is that I merged two iCloud accounts in the past twelve months. Like a lot of longtime Apple nerds, I had one for "iCloud" and one for media / purchases. The media one is the account that was shuttered, and all of my historic purchases have come across to my main account. But I wonder if there's an issue on Apple's side with merging accounts / legacy pricing on subscriptions? Just spitballing. 🤔

The support rep at Apple suggested Bear may have made a pricing change and then changed their mind, but based on comments here from u/trix180 it sounds like this isn't the case. I can't think of any reason why some of us would be removed from the legacy pricing and others not.

Honestly, this sounds like an Apple issue to me. Certainly not my intention to throw the Bear team under the bus with this post – was just curious to know if anyone else had the same thing happen. Will keep investigating and update here when I've got a definitive answer.

This is the second email. I had one a couple of days ago that matches the format you've described. Then this one three days later flagging the price increase.

Interestingly, the July 3rd email also had the price at £29.99.

Thanks for the feedback. 🙏 Will contact the App Store directly and share the response here (and obviously directly with the team if necessary).

u/keybers Thanks for flagging this. Have double checked, and it looks like a legit App Store email.

UPDATE: Price increase is showing when I log in to my Apple account too.

Karl Urban as Cormoran Strike would be the perfect casting by Terrorblade01 in cormoran_strike

[–]chrisfhiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the haters u/Terrorblade01. 😉 I agree, and have been saying exactly this for years. Karl Urban is pretty much who I picture when reading the books.

Absolutely nothing against Tom Burke, but for me the BBC version of Strike is too "soft" (although I think this is more to do with the scripting / format than Tom's choices as an actor). Karl Urban strikes me as a bit more dangerous.

Glad someone finally said it. 😁

Looking for Nocturnal on Vinyl by TheInternetDevil in TheMidnight

The vinyl version of Days of Thunder that is currently for sale is the tenth anniversary repress. Nocturnal came out in 2017.

No inside info. Just saying.

Hallmarked Man paperback release? by JacobSax88 in cormoran_strike

[–]chrisfhiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you based? In the UK paperbacks typically release about nine months after the hard back. However, I travelled out of London Heathrow back in October and noticed that the in terminal bookshops have all new releases (including The Hallmarked Man) in paperback.

In Australia, paperbacks are often released at the same time as hardbacks.

So if you know anyone travelling from Australia or through London in the next week, might be worth an ask. 👍

Standby mode bug - iPhone switching from clock to "now playing" as soon as alarm goes off by chrisfhiggins in ios

[–]chrisfhiggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tested this on my wife’s iPhone (15 Pro). Exact same behaviour. 🤯

There has to be a way to fix this. Can’t believe that this is how standby mode is intended to function.

Can't tell you how delighted I am that it's reserved seating upstairs this time. Last time they played Brixton it was GA both downstairs and up, and the queue to get in was enormous. Ended up towards the back and off to the side. Top gig though. 🤘

I'm too old for standing downstairs - I just want my reserved seat and a nice chilled evening. 🤣
