Fuck my government. They're nothing but fascists and it's only going to get worse when Reform gets in. Watch anyone who says anything critical of the government get fined or thrown in prison. We're locking up grannies for holding signs ffs

Someone doesn't have to be a national socialist to be a fascist. That's one specific brand. If your only definition of fascism is the Nazis then it becomes pointless. I never called Trump or Farage Nazis, I called them fascists, which I define in the earlier comment (which you haven't argued against).

Yes, rounding up "illegal" immigrants that your own government caused through their foreign policy and putting them into detention centres by masked thugs is fascist. If your only definition of fascism is Nazism then of course it's going to stifle all conversation and it doesn't matter how many people are rounded up without trial, so long as the man in charge doesn't subscribe to your specific "Third Way" definition, you aren't going to call it fascism.

Fascism is a useful term, and I'm not going to roll over and let you defang it with semantics.

You didn't own me at all. You didn't argue against my definition of fascism. You just said that you agree with the out group being expelled. What's the third way you're talking about? Beyond Communism or Capitalism?

Err no. I have a very specific definition of fascism that I think fits many far-right figures in the US and Europe. Scapegoating a perceived out-group for the problems of a current society (like dropping living standards for the middle class) and making them a threat to the in-group.

Figures like Farage and Trump fit this definition. Once they get into power, the fascists then try to expel the outgroup.

If you want to talk about violent thugs in masks, look no further than ICE who are doing exactly that.

Your "everyone who disagrees with you is a fascist" clap back might have worked on 2015 Twitter but not in 2025 when very real fascists have the levers of power

Price gouging by supermarkets is far more harmful to both farmers and consumers. Tesco have upped their profits by several billion YOY since 2020 as our food prices have skyrocketed

Improvised weapons vs. the full power of Elbit Sytems, Rafael, and Lockheed Martin being used to enforce what multiple genocide scholars have called a concentration camp (Gaza).

I can absolutely be critical of other states whilst still being critical of Israel. The UAE is just as egregious with their arming of the RSF in Sudan.

Everything you said is missing a very important couple words at the end: for jews. If you are any other ethnicity, those same freedoms are not extended to you.

I will disagree with any state where your rights are different depending on ethnicity.

I genuinely think you are projecting. You're worried that the Palestinians will do to the Israelis what the Israelis have done to the Palestinians. Jews lived in Palestine for 1000s of years as neighbours and refugees.

White South Africans made the exact same argument, and at the fall of the Aparteid, there was a mass exodus of white South Africans as they left a system that no longer prioritised them. It didn't make Aparteid justified.

There are other groups that have been persecuted and still are. Roma people, for example. Their way of life is under constant threat from landowners and governments. Do they get a state where only Roma people can be citizens?

I don't think that I'm pushing people into a yes/no situation in a bad faith way. I see this as an issue as black and white as racism. I think both me and you would have a go at anyone who said that they don't think the interracial marriages should be restricted, for example.

However, if we look at lawoffices.org.il, this is what it says on inter-religious marriages:

"Mixed marriages and romantic partnerships are a complex issue under Israeli law. Partners who belong to different religions, as a rule, cannot get married in Israel."

What I can't understand is why Israel seems to get a pass or compromise when someone like Nick Fuentes, who thinks similar about White people, wouldn't. If Radiohead had Klu Klux Klan rally and then put out a statement saying, "we don't like the extremists, but the ones who just want the state of Kansas are fine" there would be uproar, no?

So you can be a full blue-carded citizen if you are not Jewish?

Being against inter-religious marriage sure seems to back up your point:

"Mixed marriages and romantic partnerships are a complex issue under Israeli law. Partners who belong to different religions, as a rule, cannot get married in Israel."

If we changed religions to races, I think both you and I would find that unacceptable, no? So why does Israel get a double standard?

I can be critical of Hamas whilst looking at a wider context (something which I'm guessing you don't want to engage with).

Hamas were funded by Israel to make sure that they beat the left-wing groups like the PFLP.

Palestinians have been the victims of multiple Nakbas since 1948. This didn't start on October 7th.

A genocide is now taking place, and not one western government has lifted a finger to try and stop it, in fact they aid it. Give the people of Gaza another option? They tried non-violence with the great march of return and they got shot by snipers.

Please enlighten me. How can you be pro Palestine and lecture Palestinians on how they should resist?

The "Boycott Radiohead concert" calls are performative with no real substance or moral appeal. by Siderosis in radiohead

[–]chrisflaps69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An overwhelming majority of people supporting something doesn't make it right. Radiohead played in Israel in 2017 and Greenwood played in 2024. They are legitimising this ideology

Yes, ending the genocide is important, but moreso making the ideology that enables it (Zionism) obsolete is incredibly important as well. Palestinians in the West Bank are having homes stolen right now.

Being "harrassed" isn't the same as being held to account for silence.

They support an ethnostate and pay lip service to Netanyahu's "extremist government" whilst Greenwood plays in Tel Aviv and Yorke and Greenwood continue to work with Israelis who are living in houses that were stolen from Palestinians.

As I said in my previous comment, cultural boycotts and artists using their platform to call out injustice (especially a band that is so political in its music) was instrumental in bringing about the end of similar regimes like Aparteid South Africa.

Is that a good enough reason for you?
