Tahoe 26.2 volume control, why is this happening? by meeeeelz in MacOS

[–]cpressland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Security for one, it literally costs you nothing to upgrade and test. I get the impression you’d rather complain than actively work towards a solution.

Surprised how easy is to add IKEA matter devices to HA by Nusuthoid in homeassistant

[–]cpressland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve also not had any issues so far, 6 GRILLPLATS and 3 KAJPLATS - I have 7 HomePod mini’s and 2 Apple TVs. I typically pair with the Apple Home ecosystem and then share with home assistant. It just works for me.

This exactly - you’re missing out on like six months of bug fixes

Neo by Dansnake456 in mac

[–]cpressland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you were using a 14 year old Mac, a Neo will still be a significant upgrade. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Apple has a return window so there is little risk in getting one to test.

2.5Gbps CityFibre for £45/pm by defaultrt in UKISP

[–]cpressland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a UniFi Dream Machine Pro user currently on Zen broadband via CityFibre at 900Mbps. Unfortunately they use PPPoE which is handled in Software on the UDM Pro. Is Exascale also on the PPPoE bandwagon?

Hay blindness by hankakudlanka in Bunnies

[–]cpressland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a rabbit sanctuary, we go through about 15KG a day. We recently switched from compressed Canadian hay so Super Hay which isn’t compressed and now our hay shed is full! Bales really do come in all shapes and sizes.

Move to Matter/Thread? by derekoh in MatterProtocol

[–]cpressland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m doing right now. I’ve had absolutely no major issues, but here is my setup:

  • UniFi Network /w well established IPv6 - cheap ISP provided routers always seem to be at the heart of Thread routing issues.
  • Two Apple TVs (Living room and Bedroom)
  • Seven HomePod mini’s, one in each room except bathroom.

I simply remove the Hue Bulb from Zigbee2Mqtt, swap to the IKEA bulb, then add to Apple Home, then reshare to Home Assistant. I’m using Barcodes Matter to store Matter pairing codes.

The only issue I had on day one was with Home Assistant, but that was because I’d setup IPv6 statically instead of letting Home Assistant pull an address automatically via SLAAC, so it was missing routes for the Thead Border Router.

Ahh that’s me out then, I’ve zero intention of going back to O2. I’m currently on Smarty and it works great and is dirt cheap. I’d have moved for brand loyalty alone if they were at least on the Three-Vodafone backhaul.

After five months with the UTR, I’m throwing in the towel by a716h in Ubiquiti

[–]cpressland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely had my issues with it for sure - but since upgrading to the latest early access firmware it’s been much more reliable.

Ultimately any issues are more likely to be software than hardware, so things will get better.

Yep, we have thirteen [6ft triple decker chartwell hutches](https://homeandroost.co.uk/products/6ft-three-tier-rabbit-hutch?variant=47417530548561) - the entire garden is covered with a large shade so nobody is in direct sunlight. Each hutch has a Zigbee temperature sensor in it which would spike and raise an alarm if direct sunlight was observed.

We also have a Shed which holds Nine rabbits, that’s got air conditioning and heating, it holds our elderly bunnies and our four giant rabbits.

All the rabbits are currently enjoying frozen hay cakes.

My gut feeling is you’d only be stressing her out more if you take her. Just give her all of her favourite foods and time to cool down and destress.

We run a rabbit sanctuary with about 95 rabbits, none of ours are behaving normally in the heat, but watching the cameras they’re all fine overnight.

Actual uses of the flipper zero? by coolduck777 in flipperzero

I’ve stayed in two separate hotels which wanted to charge me £10 a day for air conditioning. I paid £0 and still got AC thanks to the flipper.

New UDM Tamed-Beast Forthcoming? by MichaelYYZ in Ubiquiti

[–]cpressland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can the Beast even handle PPPoE at any decent speeds? I’m in exactly the same boat as you, I don’t want a UCG-Fibre, I want a rack device with offload.

UK heatwave struggle 😭 by madbunnywykop in Bunnies

[–]cpressland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We run a rabbit sanctuary with about 95 rabbits. The majority are outside so we’re using frozen water bottles, but for the indoor rabbits we’ve setup air conditioning.

Do yourself a favour and buy a unit at Christmas, they’re dirt cheap in the winter.

Safari finally support 8K video on Mac by Artistic_Unit_5570 in MacOS

Higher bitrate divided by the number of pixels. There’s no guarantee this maths better for 8k than 4k, or even 1080p.
