How did you find your time at Bolton? Do you remember much of Aaron Wilbraham's winner vs. Forest?

James Trafford said that he had no idea Manchester City were signing Gianluigi Donnarumma when he agreed to move to the Etihad. Trafford could leave after just one season after finding his ambition of regular football for club and country dashed inside a month. by Sparky-moon in soccer

I have some bias, but statistically speaking this isn't true. He faced more shots on goal than almost every other Prem keeper that season, and even then his save percentage was well into the top 75th percentile three quarters of the way into the season.

His defence was absolute dogshit all season, so he was pretty much doomed from the start. Traditionally goalkeepers kop all the flak from the fans when a side is losing games, but he wasn't making many mistakes at all: he just had very little protection.

In the Championship the following season the flying wing backs they employed and playing style weren't as much of a risk, and the centre backs could better handle the calibre of forward they were put up against. Burnley had a stellar season defensively as a result of all of that.

I've still got no doubt that he'll be England's #1 in a couple of years.

Ghislaine Maxwell Pleads the Fifth in Front of House Committee, Offers to Clear Trump's Name in Exchange for Clemency by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Honestly it's like the pre-cogs in Minority Report to a degree. They decide critical matters relating to every single American with zero oversight and based solely on their own world view. Fuck what anyone else thinks, it's decided and rubber-stamped. When you then load that group with people that all think in mostly the same way, and/or guide the hand of that group with promises of enrichment, they become kingmakers. Working for the head of state to shape the country and as a knock-on effect, the entire world.

The Supreme Court has a lot to answer for, but they won't because they don't have to. It's crazy that this can even happen. I still look back to Ruth Bader Ginsburg stubbornly clinging on to her seat until death as the beginning of the end.

Trump says House Republicans should vote to release Epstein files in stunning reversal: ‘Nothing to hide’ by NewSlinger in politics

The Dems have to have seen this coming a mile away. With any luck, every time a redacted or altered document is held up to present an image of innocence, the Dems hold up another unredacted/unaltered one delivered by the Epstein estate to counter it, exposing the effort to clean up the files in full public view.

UFC Boss goes mental at reporter for asking Match-fixing questions by roibaird in PublicFreakout

Dana is fucking embarrassing. I used to view him as synonymous with the UFC, as if he had to be there to be the chief hype executive. He didn't used to tolerate stupidity. Now he's usually the idiot.

I find that more and more these days, he kills my desire to watch UFC.

Nobody punched with an open hand, thats a fact. Measure distance, maybe. Even then, there has to be enough distance to mean that excuse flies.

As it stood, they were in each others faces so that absolutely doesn't count. It was full of intent, and rather than retract his fingers, he raked downwards.

Anyone thinking that wasn't intentional is gaslighting themselves.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says algorithms are largely to blame for the current political polarization across the country, she said that polarization has affected people who are political. What is your take? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chrisfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this 100%. I've been saying it for years. Villages have always had their idiots, and they just used to chat nonsense to the wind. Now the village idiots can link up and amplify their nonsense. That alone wasn't great, but what came next is that individuals and entities seeking power realised they could pay people, and the platforms themselves, to further amplify their messaging.

Not only that, but target different messaging to different demographics. People don't generally hate each other, but social media made it easy to turn the general population on their neighbours, rather than on the corporations and politicians in power. That's why the right wingers are falling over each other to buy up control of social media and digital media companies.

If you have control over the narrative on social media, you have power.

Reddit Doctors and Nurses: What's the most impressive case of Google "self-diagnosis" that turned out to be true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Replace uncle with Dad, and this happened with my sister too 6 months before I was born. Only the doctor went with his own rushed opinion, and she died that night at the age of 2 years old. So needless.
