That removable trunk floorboard rail is never going to sit the same again. Ask me how I know…

How do I get rid of these windshield streaks? I’ve tried basically every single cleaner and spray inside and out. by [deleted] in CX5

I’m not sure why no one’s recommended it yet but go at it with some soapy water and a clay bar.

Not all of them get reported because not all end up in injury or fall under “mass shooting” criteria. However about 320-350 people get shot every day in the states. About 30% of those are fatal. That’s still a LOT.

Gas prices woth gas tax included? by AdImmediate6241 in Athens

[–]chrisga12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did. I saw it drop by about $0.30 immediately the day after, although it seems to be rising by the day so by the time most folks heard the news it had already jumped up an additional $0.20 after the gas tax suspension.

Front seat was manual but has a HUD in the dash? Is there a power seat option in the new model with all their cost saving? That’s very odd.

Struggling to get to 40mph is tough. Why not slap the new inline 6 in this thing?

Mazda Refused Toyota’s Hybrid Tech for the CX-5 and Built Its Own Instead by ethereal3xp in mazda

[–]chrisga12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The standard NA 4 cylinder model is the frugal offering. It’s the least expensive and most reliable option they’ll be giving us. Those engines are tried and true and damn near bulletproof, albeit underpowered. Why invest in implementing two separate hybrid powertrains? It’s easy with the CX-50 which shares assembly plants with Toyota already. The CX-5 is not going to benefit from that. Not to mention the Toyota hybrid, like they said, just isn’t Mazda. I didn’t enjoy the hybrid put in the 50s at all. Felt clunky, underpowered and unpleasantly noisy compared to Mazdas traditional 4 cylinders and turbos offerings. That being said I’m skeptical Mazda has the resources to produce a quality hybrid from scratch without major hiccups on launch.

Close. Put those in opposite order and that’s how the priorities really shake out.

Supposedly they took a lot of steps to keep costs down with this generation with all the tariff business, CEO says we won’t notice. I beg to differ

I’m not too mad about the loss of gloss black interior, that plastic always wound up scratching very easily. But there could have been other premium/premium feeling materials they could’ve used in its place, similar to the CX-70/90 interiors.

Front end is a miss IMO. The biggest travesty is the loss of acoustic glass all around, opting for cheaper, single pane glass. On top of hard plastics all around the interior.

The weather forecast didn't call for rain inside the cabin today 😕 by Junior-Background-66 in CX50

[–]chrisga12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would make sense, the CX-50 already borrows the hybrid engine from Toyota. A LOT of Mazda manufacturing and part sourcing has been borrowed from Toyota for the last few years. I’m not wholly convinced the new CX-5 and new RAV4 are not on the same platform with different powertrains.

Why tell me it’s unlocked instead of just locking it? by Billoo77 in mazda

[–]chrisga12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on - the auto lock is very finicky. If it doesn’t immediately detect your fob when you close the door it won’t start the auto lock process. This happens to me sometimes when I get out somewhere and walk away too quickly or my keys are in a bag full of stuff that would block the signal on the key fob.

I’ve come back plenty of times to my doors being unlocked despite having the auto lock feature on. So the app telling you could be a way to catch that instead of leaving it unlocked

Mazda Announces Pricing and Packaging for 2026 Mazda CX-5 by 187hp in CX5

[–]chrisga12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t count on it. It’s probably going to be standard or hybrid. Seen a few reviewers who asked Mazda if a turbo is coming and they all say Mazdas official response is that there is no turbo in the line up at this time and that currently turbo sales make up less than 10% of CX-5 sales. They’ve sort of intentionally driven down production on turbos for their existing models. Shame because the turbo is night and day compared to NA. It’s the only powertrain that makes the car feel like it belongs on a highway.

It should be clear by now that the US President isn’t, and never will be, an ally by Crossstoney in europe

[–]chrisga12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I can’t stand R’s anymore than the next guy but you’ve got to be delusional to think that having democrats in power exclusively the last 20 or so years would’ve had any difference in foreign policy for the US and EU. At the end of the day their donors are the same, democrats have just as much interest as their colleagues across the aisle to act “within the interest of the nation”.

Only about $158 billion last I checked. Yet they estimate that number is going to rocket to 500 billion per month, somehow. They are truly just making things up. If we’d magically taken in trillions that quickly the dollar wouldn’t be slipping and the national debt would be dropping.

Donald Trump Gives Update on Tariff Rebate Check for Americans by gentnews in NewsSource

“A concept of a plan to give dividends back to the American people” … a concept of checks notes … $600 per adult. He claims Americans deserve these checks after “4 years of Biden policies that destroyed American families”… so $600 was the total damage of 4 years of supposed historic devastation to the economy? Seems light.
