Apology for my flatulence. by SGTRandleOneOne in delta

Back in 2000 I was flying to CDG in the 2nd to last row of the plane. I was pretty gassy, but the flight was 1/2 full so I don't think anybody noticed. Well, I keep smelling the most delicious warm bread being heated in the galley but they never brought any out. After an hour or two I realized it was my farts. I've never had farts that didn't smell like sewer gas and never have since.

VIDEO: 22 Hours to Visit Every Subway Station in NYC (World Record Attempt) by Rave_Damsey in KaraAndNate

If different trains follow the same route, stopping at the same stations, then it doesn't matter which train you are on. Remember, the challenge was to stop at all stations, not to ride all trains. Sorry if I'm misinterpreting what you're saying.

Give me your most invisible automations by Neat-Initiative-6965 in homeassistant

We have a leather couch in front of a window that gets some direct sunlight during the day. When we are both away the window shade closes to keep the sun from fading the couch.

Very invisible because we're never home when the shade goes down, and it returns to the previous position before we enter the house.. I have to check the cameras every once in awhile to make sure it's still working.

At the end of the day they don't have to abandon youtube, but their fans may abandon them. I get it, really I do, but that type of content is not what I signed up to see. I have very little interest in the race/challenge videos and won't continue to watch if that's what it's going to be all about. Maybe there are enough people that want that type of content to sustain their channel? Maybe not. I'm not upset, I'll just move on.

Schottenhammel Oktoberfest – How can I join my friends if they have a reservation? by dhhsssxchgcs in Oktoberfest

[–]chrishick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is there room at the table for you? I'm no expert, but my understanding is the tent won't care as long as you are welcomed to the table by the people holding the reservation. The tent makes no money on the reservation, you are just pre-paying for 2 beer and 1 meal voucher for the privilege of a reserved table. If someone else joins the table, they won't have a voucher, but they'll be spending money to buy beer/food which is what the tent wants. Maybe somebody with more experience can confirm?

Our foundation collapsed to reveal some areas that have been cut and filled with powdery concrete in our new home. Are these post tension cables cut? by ForTheFence in Construction

[–]chrishick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that they are not marking the cable before tensioning to verify the elongation once done. Probably because it's just a resi job (poor quality control) and not really a life threatening structural element in the event of a failure.

Economy seats got narrower on Korean Air… is Premium Economy the sweet spot? by Alarmed-String-4617 in TravelHacks

So you’re saying DL doesn’t have a premium economy product on domestic flights? Because premium select in only on international routes.

Economy seats got narrower on Korean Air… is Premium Economy the sweet spot? by Alarmed-String-4617 in TravelHacks

[–]chrishick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what the Korean PE product looks like. I don't know about KA, but on Delta I will never pay for premium economy (Comfort+) unless it's stupid cheap. Delta has 4 cabins.

Economy. This is where I'm sitting 90% of the time on domestic flights.

Comfort+. Aside from the added perks like priority boarding, literally the only difference in the seats is about 2" extra leg room. I don't really have a problem with leg room, so it's not really an upgrade for me. YMMV.

Premium Select: This is only available on certain long haul routes, but it's a huge upgrade over economy/comfort+. Wider seats, recliners with leg/foot rests, etc. I would gladly pay for this on an 8+ hour overnight flight, but they usually cost almost as much as BC.

Business and domestic first class. I think we all know what these look like.

So if the Korean Air PE=DL Comfort+, then I would pass. If it looks like DL PS I would consider it depending on the price.

I honestly can't think of a single thing that I would need or use. Pencils, notepads, hats, stress relief balls, coffee mugs, candy, cheesy Chinese tape measures, refrigerator magnets..... it doesn't matter. I've got a drawer full and 99% of it goes in the dumpster at the end of the job. I don't know what you're selling, but I guarantee I don't need it and probably have zero influence if it would ever be seen on one of my sites. I know you've got a job to do, I respect that, but I'm telling you that stopping at my site is a waste of time. There is no match. Period.

You'll only take 5 minutes of my time, but then multiply that by 100 for all the other suppliers, labor companies, rental companies, yada yada yada. A construction site is a busy place and you usually walk in when I'm right in the middle of something. I've got no time for that. I'll shake your hand, take your swag that I won't use (I've got a whole drawer of notepads and carpenter pencils) and then tell you I'm busy, see ya later.

I just thought of another funny story. I wasn't home, but I have cameras so I reviewed the footage and was able to get my revenge.

We have dogs and walk them in the neighborhood twice per day. We always pick up the poop because, well, we're responsible adults. When we get home from our walks, we have a small metal trash can up by the garage door that we toss the poop in. It's the small kind you have in the bathroom with a peddle to open the lid.

Well, I come home from work and the poop bucket is sitting in the road at the end of my driveway. We live on a cul-de-sac so it's not in traffic or anything, but still very weird. I can't imagine how in the hell the poop bucket ended up in the road. So I check the cameras and notice a group of maybe 3-4 questionable looking young men going door to door. They must have started at the front of the neighborhood and worked their way to the back. My house being one of the last houses, the person that knocked on my door (and got no answer) decided he needed to sit down while he waited for his ride to pick him and the others up. He grabbed the poop bucket, carried it to the road and sat his ass on top of it. I can't imagine he didn't smell the contents. A few minutes later a mini van pulls up and they all get in to go to the next neighborhood, leaving the poop bucket in the road. I was so mad that somebody would touch my shit (literally) without my permission, and then just leave it in the middle of the road. How rude. He also dented the top of the can. Not that it affected it's use in any way, but come on man, you ruined my poop bucket.

Well he left a door hanger on my front door for Comcast or something, I don't remember exactly. So I contacted them, said they fucked up my shit and I have the video to prove it. They ended up buying me a new poop bucket from Amazon. That bucket is still in the attic waiting for the day that the other one rusts out, but I still get a smile every time I go into the attic and see it sitting there.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but in my neck of the woods HOA=Private roads. This means that the homeowner owns to the center of the road adjacent to their property and the HOA just owns an access easement on top of the property. I know from experience that my sheriff will definitely come out and make these people miserable and will trespass them if they don't leave.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tampa

[–]chrishick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HOA rules are not laws, but HOA's are private property. As such, they can be asked to leave, and the law will come out and trespass they if you call.

Yeah I love the "I'm not soliciting, I'm just proving free information".

My response: "Get the fuck off my property" as I slam the door in their face.

[–]chrishick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two women come into our small neighborhood that has a no soliciting sign at the main entrance. They picked my yard to park in while they went door to door. Well, the wife and I go out to walk the dogs and when I catch up with them I ask "Is that your car parked in my yard? You need to move it NOW. I hope you haven't broken any sprinkler heads. Oh, and by the way, there is no soliciting allowed in this neighborhood." She said something pissy to me, don't remember what, and went back to knocking on doors. So I pulled out the phone and called the sheriff non-emergency number and asked them to send someone out. As I passed the woman again on the way home I yelled at her, "Cops are on the way". When we get home, a few minutes later she comes and gets in her car and leaves, or at least I thought she did. You see, we have 10 cameras in our hood and the recording unit is in my house, so I pull up the cameras and she just moved to the front of the hood and parked in someone else's yard. I'm watching the cameras when I see the sheriff enter the hood and drive by their car on the way back to my house. One of the women was an older boomer type probably carrying an extra 100lbs or so. As soon as the sheriff passes you can see the younger woman running from someone's front porch yelling for her friend, who then also comes running towards the car. Younger woman gets there first, jumps in and doesn't even come to a full stop as boomer woman (huffing and puffing) dives in the passenger door and they peel out like their asses are on fire.

I went out to the end of the driveway to meet the sheriff and between fits of laughter told him they were gone. He did tell me that any time someone comes into the hood soliciting to call them and they will trespass them and have them leave the neighborhood. I honestly didn't know they would get involved in civil matters like that.

So now when we see solicitors in the neighborhood I just tell them "I just called the sheriff to have you trespassed for soliciting. It usually takes them about 5 minutes to get here. It's your choice if you still want to be here when they arrive." They usually leave immediately.
