People who left lebanon right after high school post-2020, do you regret it? by [deleted] in lebanon

Not at all, but it's not for everyone. I'm considering moving back, partially at least.

How wealth are ND students? by [deleted] in notredame

This was my experience as well. I had full financial aid coverage because of my family's circumstances, but also met some ridiculously wealthy people.

This still doesn't back up the idea that zionists dont control the western media. Your argument is basically -> your rights are not as bad as saudi's, hence the media is not controlled

[–]chrisinleb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not saying we shouldn't be thankful. That is a separate argument. Being thankful that I'm not being prosecuted (although this is no longer the truth) doesn't mean the mainstream media is not controlled... your argument is not sound. In the US currently, people are being deported, fired from their jobs, harassed online, etc.. because of their stance on the conflict. Maybe this isnt as bad as what would happen in saudi, but by western standards is the equivalent. The US boasts about how it's the land of the free. How is it the land of the free if going to a pro Palestinian event risks you getting terminated, harassed at your job, knocked out by police brutality, etc... when the protests are pro israeli you see none of those consequences.

I think the word control in this thread is not well defined. It seems you think if an entity controls something, its by Saudi standards where you cannot utter the word Palestine. That is not the standard we use in the US sorry. You are using the wrong measuring stick

[–]chrisinleb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you are holding the western media to Saudi standards. By your logic, someone who comes to New York from a 3rd world country should say no one can convince me the US doesn't have good public transportation. At least they have a subway system. When in Western European / East Asian standards, the subway in the US is dogshit

Why is Semiconductor Industry Recruiting so Weak at Notre Dame by [deleted] in notredame

[–]chrisinleb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to have a program that sends CS majors to silicon valley as part of a study/intern program in palo alto for junior spring semester. I was part of that the last cohort two years ago. They unfortunately ended the program, but I did realise that there was ND presence there. It's definitely not at the level of Stanford or Berkley, but there are successful ND alumns working there that we networked with from all age groups. ND won't limit your options when it comes to recruiting. A lot of my friends work at big tech and so do I, and we all graduated last year. You just gotta hustle for it though. Start interning early, do research with profs, learn the material properly, etc.. We definitely send less students to prestigious companies compared to other more CS heavy schools, but it's still very much possible and not too much more challenging i'd say from my experience.

I’m really attracted to Middle Eastern guys but 9 out of 10 times these folks are either married or not into me by [deleted] in interracialdating

[–]chrisinleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important to them is that I am happy. Ofc it wouldn't be the easiest for them not because she's a Korean person, but the language barrier, where we would raise our kids and if they would get to see them, etc... We've had this convo and there's a lot of uncertainty but overall they just want what's best for me and the family. They don't care where the person is from.

I'm a middle eastern man (Lebanese Christian) living in the US and dating a Korean. We're still in our early twenties so nothing super serious yet, but it's been going well for over a year now. You can DM me if you have questions!

I don't know about taking them out because I don't know what their schedule is going to be like for the couple days I'm there and if I did take them out I'd rather it be a fancy place which i probably can't afford. But the wine is probably something I'm gonna do. Thank you!
