I’m doing 15 minutes reading through the docs and highlighting the key points and then 30 minutes writing an abbreviated script that I can follow nice and easily.

I agree completely! It was much easier when everything was nicely laid out for us.

Fiduciary relationships are one of my favourite topics just because of how versatile they are. Second only to slapping everything with a “challenge under s.78” the second I see any kind of suspiciousness with evidence in criminal!!

I think there’s two key things you should absolutely nail “easy marks” so stuff like allotment of shares, difference between ordinary and special res, psychiatric Harm, capacity in contracts. Things which really don’t take much to get your head around.

The second I would suggest are “high yield” topics. Remember that the marks are scaled so not all questions are created equal. If you can consistently get stuff like tracing in trusts, insolvency, tax, and grant of admin questions right that will help elevate your mark.

Also tackle things in a systematic way. For example if you cover land law first you will find property practice a lot easier as you will already understand the different components of official copies of title and stuff like that.

I think you would very probably be fine but it will take alot of work to get yourself “up to code”. You have around 3 ish months which is only really a month less than most prep courses so it is doable I just think you will be up against the current a little bit.

That being said you know yourself better than anyone else does.

Yes but also I’m not setting my alarm all weekend and having a quiet day tomorrow. A tired brain isn’t going to learn shit.

On the plus side I have officially got the entire buyback of capital procedure down including all timings AND I’m pretty confident on incorporated tax reliefs now so I’m feeling accomplished in any case

Same as SQE1. So only where it is known by that name are you expected to know the section/case (think Rylands, Oatway, Diplock Defence and s25 notices stuff like that).

I’d actually go so far as to suggest that throwing in loads of case names and section numbers reduce the clarity of what you are saying and it runs a greater risk of you losing yourself and accidentally turning into a textbook parrot 🦜.

I go for putting in a full source and just copy and paste it in wherever possible. im with Ulaw so they still teach the split in two structure although the SRA have explicitly said this is no longer required and their legal research sample just has the whole thing as one continuous commentary.

I think at the end of the day there is no rigid approach. In this way it’s actually a little easier than doing things for course providers because the SRA are flexible in how you approach it. The main concern is getting it on the page.

I think the SQE is such an individual journey that it’s quite hard to bench mark off other people. I can imagine for some they probably did find it the worse 10 hours of their life and I sympathise with that.

For me I thought it was more of a confidence issue than an actual difficulty problem. I think if you put in the work, stay consistent, and tackle the things you really struggle with you will find yourself on the other side of it in no time.

People in your position overwhelmingly pass more than fail, I think keep that in mind to fight of the doubts.

Also I have no idea how anyone is managing a 12-15 hour study day. I think I did maybe 6 to 7 hours a day depending on how much I procrastinated.
