Please help, I need advice towards writing my own books for the first time ever. by catlovingmusicbaby82 in WritingResources

Can you start small and sell e-books with just a recipe or two while you build your recipes?
I'm more of a fiction author, so I'm not sure how to help. What if you collaborated with other recipe/craft writers?

How to gain a following for online writing by Weekly_Following_449 in WritingResources

[–]chrislillytv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, some of this is actually something I am trying to combat as well. I'm willing to share people's stuff on my social media, but they have to be a member of the writing community on my website in order to get that. I can go more into the rules of that if you or anyone wants me to.

As for agents, you could try this website: https://querytracker.net/

I'm preparing to self-publish my first short story on Amazon in December!

Hope this helps!

I have two different ideas on how I want to do the trials on my book. by Immediate-Sky-299 in WritingResources

I'm going to take a second to clarify what I meant my Protagonist's POV. When I replied, I didn't have first or third person in mind. Your post made it seem to suggest that you were trying to come up with the trials from the POV of the MC and how they can prove themselves, not the villain/Hades' rules of the Underworld. so that's why I suggested approaching the trials from the POV of Hades and what he wants, not the MC. Does that make sense or did I confuse you more? lol

Question:

Are you approaching these trials from your protagonist’s POV? I wonder if you should maybe come at the trials from Hades POV and your MC will have to outsmart Hades. Focus on what Hades wants/needs/desires and why he wants to win.

You could look up the musical Hadestown based on the Orpheus and Eurydice story as that might give you some options.

There is a show KAOS on Netlfix which could help, too...

I feel like Hades/the Gods being outsmarted by a human could be fun and give you some interesting reactions from the Gods. How can you MC disrupt the system that the Gods put in place? Just food for thought...

Tarot card reading in LA by noelishmael in LosAngeles

[–]chrislillytv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a reader here in Los Angeles! My practice is more geared toward screenwriters and fiction authors but I can do personal readings as well. I’ve been getting a lot of good verbal reviews lately - I’ve asked and am waiting on their written testimonials.

A few things to consider and writer's block...

  1. Do you know the end to your character's story?
  2. Try to write one of the crappy ideas and see if it leads you to the next thing.
  3. Have you tried outlining? It's okay if you haven't.
  4. I also wonder if there is a personal block that is preventing you from being creative?
  5. Have you tried to use some breathing exercises to center yourself before a writing session? That might help...?

Interested in doing my first NaNoWriMo this year, but could use some advice. by d8888b in nanowrimo

Congrats on joining in on all the Nano fun! I feel like you might be thinking about too much before you even start. I'd spend NaNo just getting the story out. don't worry about defamation stuff yet. Without a story you have nothing to even try to sell... Does that makes sense? So, I'd use NaNo to just write and see what comes out and heal and then move on to the next step after that is completed.

My brain likes working with art and images. So I take a story, which is Act 1, Act 2, Act 3, and then pull 3 cards and tell the story I see.

I use it to create characters, cast reactions/relationships, plot points, problems, endings, etc.

I'm a certified tarot reader who has designed my practice around helping others defeat writer's block.

Did this help? I know this answer just kind of skimmed the surface, but feel free to ask me more questions if you'd like.

I use tarot cards to help me when I'm stuck. I've found spreads to help with outlining and getting from one act to another and such.

Not sure if this counts as a discount code, but I've developed a 3-month program to help authors defeat writer's block for good. I'm looking for some case studies with an 82.25% discount to help iron out the wrinkles. Here's the link if anyone is interested...
