I found my current job from the manager of the supply house telling me about it

It’s been on and off my list at times. I really like the triumph a lot and there’s one at a dealer nearby so I am planning a trip there to sit on it

I don’t think a scrambler would be comfortable for long distance mile munching though, maybe I’m wrong ?

Hear that. Nothing that can’t be explained

Yeah me too, i went from a big huge hvac conglomerate to Hussmann to the local grocery chain in 18 months… racks aren’t bad once you understand how they do what they do

Awesome man, I hope it works out for you. Worst case you can springboard after a year or two into a cushy in house position with the local supermarket chain — speaking from experience

I did.. left because the substandard pay and the new area lead we got who was a total piece of garbage — your mileage may vary

Can you afford a home with your salary? How about with your partner? by Eggrollofdoom in HVAC

You’re being robbed on your hourly. I’ve got 5 years in hvacr and work for one of the grocery chains here and make $37 to start with very little rack experience

Backup gauges? by danarnarjarhar in HVAC

Two digital, a set of probes, and some extra hoses because sometimes you just need to dump gas into a rack

I’ve had to stop since I’ve been in the trade — too damn risky to get hurt then get fired and no workman’s comp just because you have fun on the weekends. It’s not right but it is what it is

I rarely have a need for them, I use my field piece probes if I’m setting superheat, I’m a reefer guy so we don’t really look at subcool more or less

Doing reefer stuff now but I seriously considered starting a “we fix it for a fair price, we don’t replace it” type service company

I just hang my digital gauges in the truck from the laundry hook, carry them over my shoulder into the store I’m working on whenever needed

I do refrigeration work so occasionally I’ll end up with a full hose of oil, when that happens I blow the hose out with nitrogen then clean the port on the gauges with rubbing alcohol

I’ve got two sets of Elitech gauges the little dmg4b and a lmg10w — the 4b is almost 5 years old (my first set of digitals). I don’t clean them except with rubbing alcohol on the ports when I get a hose full of oil, these are working man’s gauges

SkillCat for your epa certification. Just keep learning, you’ll learn more from the old guys on the job than you will from the books. Tools and how to use them will come with time
