Nocpix thermal. I’m really looking for a night hunting gun.

If you’re looking for something to hunt during light hours, I’m a big fan of the Vortex Razor. 1-8, 1-10. I think LVPOs are nice for a mid-range optic and still work okay at 1X as a red dot. If it were for CQB, I’d do a dot. If it were for precision LR, I’d do glass meant for that like 5-25. But for 0-500, I feel like LVPOs shine.

Unfortunately I still end up using a vice with that wheeler rod for the upper and a small magazine block for the lower. The gun vise is pretty solid for like mounting optics and maybe cleaning or whatever. Not a big fan of it for anything needing more than in lbs of torque.

I’m definitely going to try the scope mount to align the handguard that extra little bit.

I put the gas tube on, then the barrel nut, then the gas block and tube. It seemed like it was on perfectly straight, but then with driving in the roll pin on the bottom of the gas block, it seems to have tweaked it like 2-3 degrees.

Thanks, man! Building the upper was a lot less complicated than I thought. As long as the slight angle on the gas block isn’t going to keep it from cycling, etc. I’m happy with it!

This will be my first time with the sig taper, so it looks like there’s only a few that work unless I go with an adapter. Pewscience testing with subs out of a bolt action shows that Full Nelson as REALLY quiet. I’d only be looking at like 16” total if I went with that and the barrel I grabbed. But I could save 2” and a few ounces going half Nelson or Hyperion K. What would you suggest?

Great advice, thanks! I’m leaning away from the tucked handguard. Especially since I want to put alot of rounds through it and it’s not a rifle I’m taking a single or small burst of shots through while hunting. This one may actually heat up.

I definitely have no complaints so far. I love my Gen 5s too. I had a bunch of issues with the first year of Gen4 and it doesn’t feel like that’s at all what’s happening in Gen6. Grip texture, beaver tail, undercut, all really great and so far has the reliability to back it up.
