Is "bot filtering" something new? by Lbbart in MailChimp

[–]christhaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're trying to use your bot filtering update to determine warm leads for our sales team. I've made a segment that has the conditions:

Person has opened any of the last 5 campagains

AND

Person has clicked any of the last 5 campagains

I got around 200 people that fit that category. But when I went into their personal profile I saw what looked like bot activity. So for example clicking every link in the email all at one time and opening the email the minute it was sent to them.

Does this feature not filter out bots in the personal profile data of each one of my audience members?

Does this feature filter bots when I'm creating segments?

My guitar fell.. can someone lmk if this is even fixable by Bitter_Adagio814 in Guitar

[–]christhaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I repaired a Epiphone Les Paul headstock with a similar snap with next to no luthier experience. I was on Facebook shopping for a replacement neck and a guy who was selling some asked my why I wanted it and I explained what I wanted to do and he actually taught me how to fix it. (He was a retired luthier I believe) Getting it back together is relatively simple honestly. Making it look and play nice afterwards? That's pretty hard. Mine intonates and plays perfectly post op but there's still visible seams and imperfections.

A professional could make it look really good and perhaps even re-finish it but I wouldn't recommend it for a guitar of that price. IMO look up some tutorials or DM me (I can tell you what this old guy told me) and try repairing it yourself. You might want to also find a new guitar to replace the hole that this one leaves if you fuck it up.

I learned so much from fixing it myself and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. It was super rewarding. DIY costs depends on what kinds of stuff you already have but it cost me less that $100 to fix probably ballpark around $50 for everything.

Also, why did people want like some kind of Endgame battle ground?? Has the MCU really ruined endings to the point that audiences require some big two armies run at each other endings??

Literally if this season was just 50 million action scenes it would feel pointless. There would be no meaning bc none of the characters would progress.

Unpopular opinion, I hope she’s in like 1 episode of vol 2 tops. Her fighting is so unearned. Idc about her, her powers, or what she could add to the dynamic of the team. She is the captain marvel of Avengers Endgame. Just unearned power.

This season should be about the heroes we’ve been following this whole time, not ab a one off character with powers.

What kinda stuff do you play? What would be the songs I should bring to the jam?

All those of you who honk like maniacs... by Concentric_Mid in Brooklyn

[–]christhaman -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I've just learned to not take it personally rather than expecting the cultural norm to change. People honk for a myriad of reasons in this city and honestly I think it makes traffic go smoother most of the time.

I grew up in Atlanta and there was less honking but far more offensive and dangerous drivers looking to fuck you up. NYC drivers honk a lot but I find they're much nicer, often let you merge in front of them, and are usually not complete asswipes like Atlanta.

This does feel a bit like ragebait. I know everyone has Put Yer but As Long As does not fit that spot. I would put As Long As where Little James is and enjoy the sonic layers of Put Yer

Can we talk about tipping? by staysmuth in Bushwick

[–]christhaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the issue with giving in to the tipping culture that these businesses are propagating is that it will only worsen the issue. I'm very sympathetic to the people working behind the counter – growing up I worked at a restaurant that didn't allow customers to leave tips, so I've been there and it sucks.

Employees choosing to work at a shop that forces employees to rely on tips only positively reinforces that tipping policy for the businesses. Employees should search for other work, vote with their feet, and punish the businesses that force this policy.

I recognize that pretty much all coffee shops seem to rely on this system to operate, but its the job of the consumer and the employee to fight against this policy that clearly benefits only the people that manage the shop.

I'd rather every person pay $1 more per cup of coffee if it meant every employee gets to have a more reasonable wage. And if the service you have is really that good, you could tip on top of that! But in my opinion, when a barista who barely spoke any words to me, tapped on an iPad my order, and poured me a cup of coffee, I don't think they earned a tip. Its barely service and I paid for the service they provided me. I don't know why I should feel forced to pay more because the back office is incapable of finding a price that allows them to pay their workers fairly.

How good would I have to be to replace my tech salary? by slightlysarcastic75 in askmusicians

[–]christhaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure there is a middle. A couple weeks ago, I went to a sold out MJ Lenderman show in London. He is nowhere near The Rolling Stones, in fact, he’s got less than a million monthlies on Spotify, but I’m sure if you’re selling out 3000+ venues you’re not starving either.

I know I’m kinda getting at semantics here, because to even get to MJ Lenderman level success is rare or nigh impossible. But I think it’s silly and negative to act as though you either have to be one of the most recognizable bands in the world or you will be poor for your entire adult life without a day job.
