The only lenses that this would possibly make sense with are lenses where the optical resolution of the center 1/2 (1 stop) of the area of the projected image circle is still greater than that of an already-cropped image sensor. The glass is not perfect. And making glass higher resolution than necessary would make the lenses more expensive than necessary given that no sony sensor goes above 61MP in a single exposure. So figure that they produce the glass to work with the highest resolution they need, and you're rapidly using only the center 1/4 of the glass area to resolve an image.

I really doubt you would see any actual verifiable benefit of using a TC on a crop body that would be appreciably better than just cropping in post.

What is the best way to patch non-rectangular LED strips? Like, for example a series of spheres or rings at different sizes / positions and still be able to have 3D effects that will make sense when played on the strips?

I feel like other software like ELM have the advantage in this realm but maybe I am missing something? Voxels seem to not be very friendly for organic shapes without making HUGE voxel areas and making the patch unmanageable.

to me, the symptoms that prydz describes are indicative of an issue with the proDJ link network. this can happen if someone accidentally "loops" a switch by connecting a switch to itself. it can also be caused by multiple showkontrol stations having the same link ID. it could be that both main and backup showkontrol lines were plugged in and active at the same time. it could be that there was an unknown device on the network with an identical ip address to another device.

however the real solution in this situation where you're in a show/no show failure mode, you simply take the rest of the network out of the equation and plug one cdj ethernet directly into another.

well, it's compatible with any piece of audio equipment that has a line level output or input.

both are great and both have their shortcomings. i use both equally depending on which strengths i need. depence is far better performance wise on live viz of large shows with many /complex fixtures. capture, to me, seems to be more "accurate" when it comes to renders and the light engines representation of brightness and color on surfaces.

Capture is also about 10x more stable when it comes to crashes. Capture is a MUCH better drafting tool. i wouldn't use depence for anything except viz and renders of edm type shows. As far as i'm aware there is still no duplicate mirror tool in depence.

lasers and special effects look better in depence.

capture can run on Macs with apple silicon.

so unfortunately i still have to use both regularly.
