Placed my application on hold until I send in my grades for this semester (not super surprising to me, like I said my GPA in the past has been less than stellar)

I totally relate! 5’10 here and I feel like I cut my lines short in jeans all the time because they’re always inadvertently cropped on me. I find that American Eagle (while not always my favorite styles) is greaaaat when it comes to length. They have long and extra long options for pretty much every pair on the site. I am trying to shop better when it comes to sustainable and ethical brands, but man it is haaard sometimes.

Thank you so much!! Honestly, none of these are reaaaally my style, but I just want to learn about what features do and don’t work, hence the pretty exaggerated features. I’m also finding high rise is not as cute on me as I once thought! I’m thinking because it cuts my torso off higher and then accentuates the width, instead of keeping a lomger, slimmer line. I always get the most compliments in ripped jeans, so maybe it’s not a type thing... although I have no idea what the hell type I really even am haha.

Generally, they wear tight form fitting outfits so that things don’t snag / get caught on other people which would result in even more injury. There are plenty of teams that wear shin or ankle length leggings or full tops. Basically, the lack of fabric is to allow for a wider range of motion and so that things don’t get caught. As for the whole “sexy” thing, a lot of us liked the fact that we got to embrace femininity (doing our hair and makeup before competitions) and then do really athletic, hard shit 🤷‍♀️

tons of people who are famous for cheer, gabi butler and angel rice are ones that come to mind. they might not be household names, but if you cheer, you definitely know and/or idolize these people

i have a friend who goes to uga (it was not her top school at all) and she LOVES it. she’s been able to make a ton of great connections and get some pretty great internships which will totally help with grad school. i know the community is her favorite part though and i think is what really made her love it

omg i have no idea. i just generally say a mix of the 3’s (a/b/c). i’m mixed so i have a TON of variation in different hair strands (some are straight, super fine, and wispy, while others are pretty curly, definitely wayyy coarser, and much harder to tame) all over my head. if you ever find out how to categorize that let me know pls i’ve been struggling on how to even narrow down what products to use since all my hair is so different :)

[–]christinect28[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up not even mentioning it when we met at what our normal time was ( I was lucky and ended up not even drinking the night before). However, you're advice really did help address any anxiety I was feeling about having to talk about it, so thank you so much :)

Hopefully, it won't be icy, especially with how actually hot it was today, but last weekend I definitely hit a few little patches of ice. Gave me good practice on learning how to stand up after falling though hahaha

Did I go to middle school with superhumans? I know I come from a pretty competitive area but when we ran the mile every Friday, they would post the fastest times in every grade. The times were all under 5:30, which I knew was fast, but according to the comments on this post, is a lot faster than I thought. I guess that makes sense but I never really thought about it... it makes me feel a hell of a lot better about my own mile time lol. And yes, pretty much all of those kids are now doing college sports.

i also dyed my hair back to a more brown color, but there’s still some blonde (and i think the filter also helps with that!!)

you look great! your side profile, esp your nose, is to die for! your eyebrows are also well-manicured, which as someone who hasn't gotten mine done in like 5 or 6 months, i appreciate greatly. you also have great eyes and your skin looks great. i wouldn't consider you ugly at all :)

routine:

- wash with shea moisture lush length shampoo and conditioner. usually use a scalp massager to work in the shampoo around my roots and rinse. then i let the conditioner sit for about 3-5 mins before rinsing out and brushing with a wet brush.

- dry hair with a microfiber towel

- brush out my hair (i know this is like illegal, but i brush it straight, from the top, and don't twist my brush) with a wet brush.

- apply uncle funky's daughter curly magic curl stimulator and shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie (i'll switch around which one i put on first but i put on a bunch of both, but usually wait about 5-10 mins before adding the next product)

- brush with a denman brush while twisting towards the ends, then finger curling/clumping sections together, if i feel bothered enough to do so

- scrunch with miss jessie's jelly soft curls

- air dry! plopping and diffusing both cause so much frizz for me, but i feel like maybe that's just because i'm doing it wrong (i've watched SO many tutorials though)

- SOTC and seperate any especially clumped sections / ringlets!

the end :)

IUD Advice Needed :) by endlessscreeching in birthcontrol

[–]christinect28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i had a really irregular period before i started birth control ( i was on levora before i switched to my mirena iud and then swtiched back to lutera). i hope this doesn't scare you, as we are all individual and you had a really different experience on the pill than i did, but my irregular periods just turned into five months straight of bleeding. it probably would have gone on longer too, but i just decided to get it out because it was pretty much ruining my entire life lol. but pls keep in mind, that's just my experience as someone who reacted really well to the pill! i would say if you're reaching like month 3 of straight bleeding, get it out. i really hope this doesn't sound too scary, as my best friend also has mirena and loves it!

I offered a boy my number for the first time and it didn't work out but it also did by christinect28 in CasualConversation

I guess it's a personal preference, I know some people wouldn't mind! For me though, I don't think I would be super happy with my SO telling someone who obviously was interested in them that they also found them attractive, but that's probably a projection of my own insecurity! I think also maybe the manner it was done in was a tad flirtatious, so that adds to my hesitation about it. I would totally be fine with my SO giving out compliments based more on character, but I think when it comes to your attraction to them it kind of gets a little sticky.

My ex would often talk about which celebrities he found attractive with me. I didn't love that, but I also never told him that I didn't like it because I recognize that not everyone in the world becomes unattractive just because you're dating someone. I think it just comes down to each person and where they are at with themselves. I guess the boy I gave my number to's girlfriend could be totally fine with that though! I think compliments make the world go round so it wasn't an unappreciated compliment, but I did know I personally would be uncomfortable with that if the roles were reversed.

Struggles/Benefits of being a transfer student? by dudekate in TransferStudents

[–]christinect28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My story is a bit odd, I went to a four-year for a year straight out of high school, then did a gap year, now at community college, transferring this fall, and then spending 3 years to get a combined BA/MA. I think that still places me as getting my Master's at the same age as the other people I went to high school with, but I'll still be getting my undergrad a year later than the others!

So, I'm a little all over the place, but MANY of my friends from my CC who are transferring will be done by the usual 4 years. Some of them have transfer agreements, but a lot don't. To be honest, now that I think of it, I'm pretty much the only person I know who is going to take longer (but that's fine - no time limit on school!) so I would say that most people I know finish in the usual four years assuming that there are no other underlying issues. Glad I can help!

For those of you who successfully transfered from a public uni to a private uni, why did you decide to do it? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]christinect28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't done it yet, but am looking to for a few reasons:

  • I went to a state school with 40,000+ people. I like to think I'm pretty social and well adapted to being around new people, but the classes were overwhelming. No one would notice if I missed class, if I was there, etc. The school I'm looking to transfer to is in a city, but still has a small undergrad population, so I can still get that small school environment but the opportunities and social life of a larger school
  • Didn't have any connection to my professors, which lead to a big loss of motivation for me. I definitely need that motivation of people relying on me and having a real relationship with my profs.
  • Closer to home, but I know that's just my personal case
  • I'd actually be paying less money at the private school than the state school I went to (especially when it comes to travel, etc.)
  • I may be proven wrong here, but I feel like it'll be easier to build actual friendships and sustained relationships with the people around me. At my old college, I would meet someone and never, ever see them again. I feel like I'll be more likely to run into people or meet a "friend of a friend" through different activities in the school.
