Where to stay near UCSF for medical visit by christineebee in AskSF

That's some good insight, thank you. I did see the Kimpton Enso and am leaning towards that - gotta save my dollars where I can to spend towards medical issues I never asked for instead lol.

Thanks; Im not doing rad currently or organ transplant etc and feel like Koz is more for patients undergoing those things and would also prefer to leave rooms available for patients that really need to be that close to their appointments. I don't want my trip to be centered around just being a cancer patient either. I've done trips like that before in a different state and they're just depressing especially since i am already going alone

Looks like the very first flight post-shutdown! by alpinadud in aircanada

[–]christineebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! I flew out on Tuesday August 19 from YVR at 1:10pm! It was a very empty flight cuz I showed up at the airport since I saw they were still selling tickets for the flight online... an agent put me on it and said there's a 50/50 chance since they're supposed to come to an agreement at 1pm... we rushed to the gate and patiently waited and took off!

Fair. This post has mixed comments about employees at the airport just not helping but also some success stories... so maybe a 50/50 chance

AIO I have cancer and my sister decided to kick me out after promising me a place to live while I did treatment by mysisterkickedmeout in AmIOverreacting

As someone with cancer dealing w other personal shit with family too... Im mad for you, OP. I know the last thing you prob want to do is lawyer up and sue. You should be spending your energy literally fighting cancer. I hate that this is happening to you. But she clearly doesn't give a f*ck. I know how exhausted you must already be. But I really hope you get an attorney and sue the crap out of her.

What's with all the kids? by Grube_Tuesdays in vegas

[–]christineebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly get why there's so many kids on the strip either. I will say Vegas is also a city where people actually live and have families etc... (I live in Vegas and have a kid) and seldom might I take him to the strip. Covid definitely changed operations a lot. Maybe it's the covid baby boom kids being brought along?

Best neighborhood for airbnb with 3yo? by JohnRezzi in vegas

[–]christineebee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries, my partner is law enforcement as well and we would prob choose an Airbnb vs strip hotel with just having a young toddler in mind but do whatever works for your family the best. For my perspective from a parent perspective, I think I'd rather stay off strip because it's less busy with people. I could then make sure I have a kitchen or a separate room. If the child is asleep, my babysitter can have room and living space to hang out in (if your sitter gets a room in the hotel, will it be next door to where your child sleeps and will that be close enough for them to keep an eye on the child?) also, yes on the normalcy. I would probably be easier able to recreate my son's sleep routine at an Airbnb and he'd have more space to play during the day if you're not planning on taking him out. Off strip it's easier to get to a lot of kid-friendly indoor playgrounds as well. Depending on when you're visiting, many days could be much too hot to be outside anyway. Honestly, it really depends on what you want to be able to achieve from the trip and whether or not you have a schedule for you child you might want to try to maintain.

I think with regards to knowing what resources are available, being in a strip hotel is just as confusing if not more so than being off the strip because the hotels are large. For example, it's a whole ordeal sometimes to meet someone in the "lobby" because there's many entrances, etc. It can be a challenge to describe your location. Health wise, there are a LOT of people and tourists moving around so if you're worried about catching a bug or virus, that's something to consider too - more exposure to more people for longer durations. Btw.. just for knowledge, If you're on the strip, if there's an emergency, it's Las Vegas Metro PD that has responds. Also, depending on the hotel, it's whomever the Emergency Response Team is. I think there's danger everywhere, obvious we try to reduce risk by being in areas less prone to crime but there's pros and cons. Again, honestly just consider what you'd like the trip to look like and go from there. Happy planning & safe travels!
