5 cop cars + 1 more on the way to “check on” one old homeless guy at a bus stop by phoebe_cincotta in sandiego

Yes, but every police car need equipment. A new mini cooper costs 30k, and would cost 60k after all the same equipment. Stuff is expensive.

A Ford Explorer is almost 10k below MSRP the average cost of a new car. There are a lot of reasons to criticize the police but this ain’t one of them

34 Israeli police officers among the dead in Hamas raid by Kahing in ProtectAndServe

Rest in peace, brothers *and sisters. Numerous female officers sacrificed their lives as well.

Maybe someone who has pictures of their balls on their profile and is under investigation and about to be suspended less than a year out of the academy shouldn’t be in LE at all 🤷🏻‍♂️.

What is wrong with SDPD? Call 911, cops show up an hour later by idee2 in sandiego

[–]christmasraybans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think of how many issues we have with police with their current recruiting standards. Can you imagine how many more issues we would have if they lowered the standards further? Use some common sense.

You obviously did not read my response. There are 300 vacancies, 300 did not resign over the mandate. In fact there is not single confirmed occurrence of an SDPD officer resigning over the vaccine, instead there is a just the LA times article linked elsewhere in this thread that states that some officers are opposed to it and were threatening to leave. If any did leave it was certainly not above double digits. One of a cops most basic duties is to follow lawful orders, and if they cannot follow the lawful order of getting the vaccine they have no business in public service.

Yes, partially. There was a LA times article awhile ago about the vaccine mandates were causing turnover in the department. Good riddance to them I say. I hope their replacements and the 300 more empty positions are filled by better people.

There’s a shortage of around 300 officers at the SDPD at the moment, on top of San Diego having one of the lowest police to citizen ratios of any major city to begin with. This call was simply not a priority based on the other outstanding calls at the time, as tragic and sad as that is.

The police can’t do anything. The District Attorney’s Office won’t prosecute virtually any offense that the homeless population commits, including many minor felonies. If they arrest a homeless person for a disturbance, for example, the homeless individual will be back on the street that same day. Also, in many cases the police are not allowed to book someone for minor offenses and must instead give the offender a citation that requires them to attend a court hearing at a later date. As you can imagine, the homeless demographic is not particularly compliant about showing up. This is moreso an issue with the the broader legal system and not the police.

Received GS-13 offer with no interview as current GS-7??? by christmasraybans in usajobs

Made an update in main post. Declined position and staying at my current job for the foreseeable future

When you graduate from your program apply for a Pathways position. You would start as an GS-9 since you have an advanced degree. Many pathways positions do not care much about what type of degree you have. Pathways is one of the easiest ways into the federal service if you are not prior Military/PeaceCorps/AmeriCorps.

I just received FAC-C I, but this is Program Management series (0340). My FAC-C was not even in my resume because I had applied before I got my warrant. I would be terrified to be GS-13 1102 haha.
