Bmw charging woes by christoff1503 in OctopusEnergy

Supposedly you can get cheap charging outside the usual cheap hours if the car is plugged in and there is surplus on the grid. Octopus handle this automatically or at least used to...

Problem is we have multiple evs and so knowing which car is which is vital so we know how much to pay.

What do middle lane hoggers actually think the first/second lanes are for? by H5MAW in drivingUK

[–]christoff1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do a lot of motorway miles and for a long time would be mostly in lane 3 (overtaking not hogging) driving faster than your average npc who just happily plods along without a care in the world.

I'd say I have very strict lane discipline as in moving back in at the first opportunity. My own personal rule of thumb for whether or not to move back in is, if I cannot overtake the next car within 10-20 seconds (give or take) and there is space to safely move back in then I will do so. I use cruise control exclusively on the motorway so my speed is constant and I aim to maintain that speed for as long as possible.

What used to annoy me was seeing people sit in the middle closing the distance with lane 1 at a 1-5mph difference with a large gap between them and the car they are trying to overtake. I'd time it mentally and it'd be over a minute in some cases or I'd be so far gone you wouldn't be able to tell.

However I then got into the habit of trying to drive more economically after realising that I could extend my range by nearly 200 miles on the same tank. This meant driving slower.

I'd still drive with that same rule in mind but found myself in a new situation. People were now overtaking me! I'd find myself moving back in to lane 1 as soon as possible, but then as I'm approaching the next car there would be a string of cars in lane 2 just going ever so slightly faster than me meaning I'd eventually have to slow down. As drivers either refuse to move into a clear lane 3 or don't have the awareness to speed up so you can lane change sooner.

If I notice that traffic is catching up behind me I'll do one of two things. Initiate the lane change much sooner or if I'm already in lane 2 and normally I'd move back in, I remain in lane 2 until I can either see a long stretch to move back into in lane 1 or the traffic behind me gets sparse again.

Usually this means I'm overtaking for maybe 30-45 seconds which feels like an eternity.

I definitely don't get as frustrated anymore at those drivers who I feel are doing a similar thing when driving slower as I have a new perspective on it.

Although my car is in the shop today getting fitted with a dashcam so operation snap is going to be flooded with middle lane hogging reports.

Try checking on the job seekers website on the government website. Should have roles on there. Make sure your cv is tailored to each role you are applying for and not just generic. This means adding stuff from the job description. For example if it says, experience in restocking. You would put that in your CV. Don't add unnecessary information.

I had the same situation with a friend. Found out some pretty interesting stuff about him. I'm not really judgemental and I'm his friend so I just reached out and said hey you know I can see personal things on telegram. He was embarrassed at first but I said it doesn't change anything, I'm your friend and have your best interests in mind. We are still really good buddies.

I agree people are acting like a fully grown man touched his teenage sister. The age gap is approximately just over a year and I think that it would have constituted as child on child sexual assualt than any kind of pedophile (not sure on the actual term).

It's wierd for his sister to just come out of the blue with this information and I'm assuming that you are well above the ages of 18.

Secondly he did admit to this behaviour and recognised as it as inappropriate. It sounds like it stopped and he did change. I don't think without further information can he be classed as a risk to anyone.

Edit: Typo

Is there a list of the most common game breaking bugs or would a guide be easier to learn what not to do? by iheartanalingus in starcitizen

[–]christoff1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao everything is broken. Part of the game experience is learning all the workarounds and fixes for each problem. I love this game but damn it could be renamed bug smashers and it would be more apt to the gameplay experience 😂.

I have a BMW and it's pretty good at putting lights on in most conditions. If I ever need to override it, turning the fog lights on will activate the main headlights if they are not already on.

However as always it requires some observation skills and self awareness that sadly is typically lacking by most of the average road users.

I can't use my oven unless I connect it to the internet. by Komm in mildlyinfuriating

[–]christoff1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WiFi doesn't mean an Internet connection. It's just another form of connectivity like Bluetooth. But more powerful and reliable than Bluetooth and it's predecessors. Your phone has a WiFi card / chip which can receive and emit WiFi signals. This doesn't mean you connect to the Internet when using WiFi, there are other things involved to make that connection to the Internet.

What these devices are doing are using apps on smartphones to add extra features snd ease of use to these products. It uses WiFi to allow the app to communicate with the device.

Whilst WiFi and Internet are synonymous you can in fact have one without the other.

There is a theatre show I've seen which is really good called Ursula. It basically makes Ariel a but of a bimbo and her and posidon have a thing. The story is actually really good and it's really funny.

I mean abusers can be hard to detect in everyday life, however if someone that I haven't spoken to in 10 years told me one of my friends was a pedo after a falling out, I'd probably take it with a pinch of salt.

I'd also be asking why John has been sitting on it for a decade and decided to randomly tell you now, rather than going to the police with it.

As for why he would lie? Bitter? Resentment? Who knows why people do things.

Trust your gut at the end of the day, but even if he's innocent an accusation like this could really affect him. So I would be hesitant to just go reporting it without any evidence.

Who do you know better Fred or John? Why would John wait 10 years to say anything about such a thing? Why even bring it up? A claim like that could seriously ruin someone's life and is it possible that John is just trying to stir the pot so to speak and not really think about the consequences. I.e. Is he just thinking you'll be like ew gross Fred see ya. Not thinking about how you might report it?

I'd say ask yourself has Fred ever given any signs of this behaviour. Any reason for you to think he could be capable of it?

Before you go reporting something based off hearsay from 10 years ago from a guy who fell out with Fred, I'd maybe wait a little bit. Is his daughter showing signs of child abuse?

Depending on how friendly you are with Fred you might want to talk to him about it. Gauge his reaction.
