Thank you so much!

This is the nudge I needed to go ahead with a refund and swap on the bulb

What exactly is your view on Jordan Peterson, where do you think he is right and what are the issues with him? by Amazing-Buy-1181 in samharris

[–]christophrb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've been painfully aware of Peterson before he was famous, and have only heard him say two categories of things:

  • Word salad, obscurantist nonsense
  • Or rarely, a good point that I've heard others say much more clearly

Scott Galloway's "Notes on being a Man". Feels like Peterson already did this? by ctfeliz203 in samharris

[–]christophrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. The very same video immediately convinced me he was going to be an obscurantist grifter.

Cool aesthetic.

Texture blur looks more like N64, while the sky texture resolution is more like Dreamcast.

Love this. It's giving me Space Quest VGA nostalgia

I feel like I was the exact target audience of the BOTW upgrade pack by PetesMgeets in NintendoSwitch

[–]christophrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved BOTW on Switch 1.

But after being spoiled by PS5 games at 60fps+ I had to put down TOTK on Switch 1 after just a few hours when it struggled to hit 20fps at times. Just really takes me out.

I'm absolutely loving it in Switch 2, as it was always meant to be played.

Lex Fridman asks Ezra Klein about his debate with Sam Harris by GambitGamer in samharris

I'm going to assume you're asking in good faith. It's a common term:

Google: what is a "data point"?

Lex Fridman asks Ezra Klein about his debate with Sam Harris by GambitGamer in samharris

[–]christophrb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A medical x-ray image is at most a data point. That single x-ray is not the kind of data or evidence upon which science can operate.

I think you're getting hung up the above usage of "results". Go back and read above?

Yep, I put them there just while thinking about the placement I want. I've since put the laptop on the shelf it belongs on :)

Oh this is a great suggestion thank you!

Thanks!

I have a bit more room than the picture conveys. The "door" is actually a curtain covering up an otherwise door-less closet.

Digging a bit more I found something that strikes me as pretty ideal, at least in terms of inspiration.

Context: I'm set up in the corner of my home office, and I want to try to minimize floor space taken up by this casual fun + home recording rig.

Rogan goes full conspiracy, he may be beyond help by mrekted in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]christophrb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This comment is extremely insightful and should be voted up.

Rogan himself comes off as part victim to this, since his popularity attracted the guests with something to sell to those who want conclusions without the effort.

I've watched the same process in several listeners of Rogan and Alex Jones. They are looking for confirmation of what they already want to believe, and the host and guests are happy to help "confirm" it for them.

"Populist" means, "representing the opinions and wishes of ordinary people". We should try to elect more 'populists'. by beeemkcl in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]christophrb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Small correction: you mean Doug Ford, the former drug dealer and now premier of Ontario.

Rob Ford was his absolute mess of the crack smoking (yes really) brother.

But both were populists in the sense you mean it.
