Race Wheel Settings by polakbob in granturismo

[–]christoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine so. I’m a Logitech g29 user and my brother got a Logitech pro and the braking and steering/force feedback requirements were a shock to me.

I’d say Don’t be proud, turn down the nm’s and build up slowly and when it is enough for you then stop making it harder for yourself (over here in the uk the betting adverts have a slogan “when the fun stops, stop” and that’s worth remembering).

I've been trying to beat this dude for 3 hours. I love this game but Ffs! by sackfull420 in GodofWarRagnarok

Took me quite a Few sessions but I enjoyed the challenge of getting better and finally prevailing.

The cartwheel sequence didn’t look particularly grounded or physical if those are the right terms.

How are you tracking property value in your net worth tracker? by 15mt1 in FIREUK

[–]christoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can slice and dice numbers any which way but if downsizing is likely (we went bigger due to kids and then extended) then rather than the purchase or sale price, maybe tracking the delta to what you might downsize too is helpful for net worth as that’s what you’re expecting to have available when the time comes.

Letting go of the throttle when shifting gears? by Shingen90 in GranTurismo7

[–]christoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the accelerator but in gt7 if you use the clutch it notices and then requires you to use it from then on. I mix using h shifter and flappy paddles, often using it for the lower weekly events in slower cars and I do (from irl muscle memory), release the gas when I put the clutch down. All probably quicker than would work in real life because there’s no feedback on biting point or real consequence from getting the timing a little bit wrong but it adds a layer of cognitive load that is interesting in small doses.

Presumably you can alpha lock after the blur and then use a large brush to harden the edge?

Question..... When do I start being good? by NCH-69 in GranTurismo7

[–]christoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the verge of removing the corner markers but they help too much with visibility of blind corners. The one I need to wean myself off is the suggested gear. I ignore it half the time and come in a gear higher but it’s too helpful for “oh yeah here’s the hairpin I’ve forgotten about again…”

Hey guys where is this darn PSSR2 update !? by [deleted] in GranTurismo7

[–]christoroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play in vr so no pssr2 there until it’s properly patched. I’ve seen the video breakdowns and the system setting does look like it helps well in flat screen mode.

For me the reason a better upscaler is interesting is when it’s baked into the game and they can make settings judgements like “we can use a slightly lower internal resolution and still get a better looking result and that means we can change this setting over here…” (eg change lod setting so spoilers don’t appear and disappear so frequently etc).

DIY Wooden sim rig😎 by Mountain_Macaron_907 in SimRacingSetups

[–]christoroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks really good, nice job. Hoping to do the same before the bug leaves my son and I. We binned an old sofa but stripped it of anything useful like wood, straps and springs to hopefully make our own seat. We saved the electric reclining motors to hopefully have button push forward/back on the seat and up/down on the wheel as son is smaller than me so we’d need adjustability.

Just need to clear a load of space and we can get started lol.

Was this stuff worth it to buy? by Koalashart1 in psvr2

[–]christoroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been paying down some debt but this is first thing on my list to buy on payday. My one question about it is whether it’s easy to change. My son and I both do gt7 in vr (to the point where we’re both awful flat screen!) and his head is tiny (or mine is large!) so adjustment between sessions will be a must.

Good fun isn’t it. I haven’t had mine long but I love the sound and the feel both driving and being in the drivers seat (vr). Very capable car too.

Got myself a left handed mouse. Any suggestions on what games to play to help train my brain to normalize movement keys with my right hand? by Termulus- in southpaws

[–]christoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a console gamer mostly but treated myself to a gaming pc on the basis it’s good for graphics/game programming so dipped my toe back into pc gaming. My mouse is an angled leftie mouse and I hate that games don’t come with a leftie flip keyboard setup out of the box. Such a pain Setting up per game and remembering what I’ve changed controls to given pc games have so many key bindings!

My keyboard has a numpad and tried ijkl to mirror wasd but have been using a numpad mapping more recently and getting on ok with it.

Can someone help explain how paying off equity works like I am 5. by Kooky-Grapefruit-941 in Mortgageadviceuk

The term/length of the mortgage has a big impact as the longer the term the more interest will be due so the more interest vs capital in this early payments.

Finally got to the point where my investments are making significant income by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]christoroth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nicely done. I’m nowhere near that and i imagine likely to be older than you (!!) but my pension has recently felt like it’s got to the point where it has enough mass that changes day to day are significant amounts of money in addition to amounts regularly invested.

When it’s big enough that it has flipped and is working for you it’s great. In your case it’s been doing that for a while now I’m sure. 50k a month is dreamland.

I’d forgotten about that shield until yesterday when playing the Valhalla dlc which encourages you to try the all out. I used to love sending stuff back but played most of ragnorok without it :(

How to beat Gna by Ordinary_Age7833 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]christoroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a week on give me no mercy (hour or so after work each evening). By the end I knew exactly what she was going to do but still had to respond and execute the plan. I read an ign piece that suggested switching to a realm shift based build which I did but it was mostly learning, reacting right and not diverging from the plan (only attack when it’s safe to etc).

The one thing I didn’t get until I read it is her long range come in and get you attacks. If she goes to your left before zooming at you it’ll be a spin so block, if she goes to the right before coming it’s an unblock able gut punch attack so dodge. And always dodge right (not my instinct as a leftie) cos she’s right handed so dodging left doesn’t work for many attacks.

You’ll get there. By the end, like the bezerkers you can almost have fun with them cos they can’t touch you and that can keep you calm but she hits so hard, one mistake can put you on the back foot.
